Iraqi Prime Minister Makes First Official Visit to Iran
And the game has started....
TEHRAN, Iran"”Iraq's prime minister received a red-carpet welcome at the Iran's presidential palace on Tuesday at the start of his first official visit to the Shiite Muslim country since taking office in May, state-run television reported.
Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki's talks with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad were expected to cover regional issues and joint projects in energy and trade.

I hear ya Tazman, this makes my skin crawl...this will get plenty interesting, the Iraqi PM is Shi'ite remember? He'll play it two ways...he'll wear one hat when dealing with the US and another for Iran and of course lie to both...note the red carpet welcome...Iran would love an alliance at this point...How many troops does Iraq have now? A total power grab is coming...just a matter of time.

It is one of the problems of establishing a democracy, once we are out of there they can establish ties and alliances with anyone they want and the only thing we can do is whine about it.

We will never completely be out of Iraq. Maybe like 30 years like in Germany. We are over there for several reasons, in my opinion. Not just to liberate Iraq from Sadam.

[hr]I believe you just got a bullseye. With the occupation of Iraq, we've effectively cut the Muslim world in the Middle East in half. Why would we leave such a strategic position ?

Seriously, I must say this was not something that made me jump for joy in any way. I thought of several "conspiracy theories" that could explain it - not that I would believe any of them. Isn't Al-Maliki considered by many on the leftto be just a stooge for Pres. Bush? I don't feel like fleshing out these theories - I'll let others do that. I go back to the first point that it was not something I wanted to see @ any time, especially on 9-12...

What bothers me is that we haven't even left Iraq yet and they are alreadyplaying both sides. I have a problem with that because of all the lives we lost and the money we are spending to promote a democracy that won't happen. Wait until we are requested to leave Iraq by the new government.I guess one of the good things about our presence over there is that it gives us a place to fight terrorism on someone else"™s soil rather than our homeland. We freed Afghanistan from the Taliban, got Sadam out of power and planted the seedsof democracy in Iraq and now we should make an agreement with Pakistan and go in to get OBL and his bug eyed lieutenant. Then we should get out and let the whole Middle East see that if we are hit we retaliate with dire consequences. No rebuilding efforts or aid coming from the West. If there is any good to be had that fear might cause any government sponsored terrorism to think twice.
