Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Flag Burning

Not that I want to dig up and beat on this dead horse some more, but I had a thought on the issue, and I thought I'd bounce it off some of you.

Like them or not, we have "hate" laws in our country. Isn't flag burning an example of "hate speech" and in light of current trends, trumps free speech?

For the record, I am against flag burning, but I am against the Constitutional amendment as well.

Based on current Supreme Court precedents, it's legal. I don't like it. But, it's a legal form of free speech.

That being said, I think it should be illegal for non-citizens to do it. I don't think non-citizens should have the same rights as citizens. i.e. No free education. No free medical care. No welfare. No right to parade in the streets for the relinquishment of all of our rights to Anahuac/Aztlan. No right to bear arms. No due process rights beyond the right to produce documentation showing they're here legally and, if they can't produce it, summarily dump them over the border.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again, if they have the "right" to burn this country's flag, than I have the right to "express myself" by beating up the flag burner to my likeing..., it's a beautiful country

Once again Travis, I'm right with you. Freedom of Expression can take many forms. One form might be flag burning, another form might be administering a 'wood shampoo' with a baseball bat to a flag-burner expressing himself. hehehehe......

I think that if a person wants to burn an American flag, they should be allowed to buy one, get the hell out our country, THEN BURN IT.

Everyone should have the right to burn the American flag . . . . . .

As long as they wrap themselves in it before lighting!
Problem solved.

USMC PMI, I'm with you. I'll tell you what. I see someone burning a US flag and I won't hesitate to kick their ass. If you don't like America get the f@#& out.

No sense in getting in trouble assulting the flag burner, help him out with a little lighter fluid, oops an accident shouldn't play with fire. I wouldn't pee on a burning flag burner to put out the fire.

More than likely (depending on the state and state laws) burning the American Flag is freedom of speech.
However if you were to burn a flag of another country or for example a rainbow flag representing the homosexual community, then you would have your hate crimes.

Enlightening post Redshirt. Can"™t they make anti-patriot crimes or anti-American hate crimes laws in that case? Just because someone has the legal right to do so does not mean it is ethically right to do it.
