Bush says Iraq had no ties to 9-11 which means they never directly attacked us.Now Cheney says there were no WMD.He went on to say.
Quote:
Cheney also said he was wrong when he said shortly before the invasion that U.S. forces would be "śgreeted as liberators."ť Instead, more than three years later, violent resistance to the U.S.-backed government in Baghdad continues, and more than 2,600 U.S. service members have been killed.
So the people dont view us as liberators, the WMD didnt exist, and Saddam wasnt in cahoots with Bin Laden. So whats the rason were over there again.

Should the United States pull out of Iraq, Cheney said, the governments of Iraq and Pakistan, which he said had staked their futures on the U.S. commitment, would conclude that "śthe United States hasn"™t got the stomach for the fight. Bin Laden"™s right, al-Qaida"™s right, the United States has lost its will and will not complete the mission."ť
Thats remarkably similiar to the Presidents "stay the coarse speeches" isnt it?We had no reason to go in but now that were there we are stuck, thats becoming painfully obvious from all these small admissions being made.Dont take my word for it, if Bush and Cheney have the balls to admitt everything they thought they knew was wrong then the continuing justification for it from people with a lot less knowledge of the facts they had to work with cant really mean a whole lot IMO.Couple that with a quote I made awhile back abot the absense of any long term plan

dude, at one time Iraq and Saddam had WMD, the missles were dismantled as part of a UN resolution, however they did uncover evidence of WMD in tunnels...also evidence ofandbi-products of uranium enrichment...The actual WMD were removed and relocated over time, before the US arrived and after...everyone forgets how Saddam lied to the UN, restricted UN inspectors and moved the weapons from place to place...that was years ago, was it not? WMD not there now? no big surprise at this point...
WMD not there now? no big surprise at this point...
Musta been a big suprise to some who were told they would find them there after invading the country.Saying that they had them at one time but then that there was evidence of them is pretty contradictary in itself if you think about it.
The point is that now were getting close to an election, they know that a lot of Americans are pissed about the justifications behind the invasion and the lack of evidence supporting these justifications, and now both the Pres and Vice Pres are back pedaling on everything they previously asserted as being trueand the rats in Washington on both sides started desserting the ship where this issues concerned. The only rational being that we must stay the course, which by all accounts wouldnt be an issue if they hadnt stuck thier foot in to begin with.Apparently there is no set course to stay on because there wasnt ever a withdrawl plan to begin with.Yet they want to label people as unpatriotic and cowardly because they cant support the totally irrational.Cheney says they would have invaded anyway.Congress says that if they had the correct intelligence it nver would have come up for a vote to begin with.Someones lying because they couldnt both be right. And obviously there were a lot of people wrong about a lot of things at one point in time, now its every man for himself.Kinda sickening to watch if you look at it with an unbiased eye.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Saddam Hussein provided no material support for al Qaeda and had no relationship with al Qaeda in Iraq leader Abu Musab al Zarqawi, despite claims by administration officials including President George W. Bush, said a Senate report released on Friday.
The report by the Senate Intelligence Committee, drawing on a previously undisclosed 2005 CIA assessment, was released as Americans prepared to mark the fifth anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the United States by al Qaeda.
Democrats said it undercut the Bush administration's justification for the March 2003 invasion of Iraq, including recent statements by the president himself.
"Today's reports show that the administration's repeated allegations of a past, present and future relationship between al Qaeda and Iraq were wrong and intended to exploit the deep sense of insecurity among Americans in the immediate aftermath of the September 11th attacks," said Sen. John Rockefeller (news, bio, voting record) of West Virginia, the panel's ranking Democrat.
The committee's Republican chairman, Sen. Pat Roberts (news, bio, voting record) of Kansas, accused Democrats of presenting a misleading version of the committee's findings.
"The additional views of the Committee's Democrats are little more than a rehashing of the same unfounded allegations they've used for over three years," Roberts said in a statement.
Another Democrat, Sen. Carl Levin (news, bio, voting record) of Michigan, used the report to accuse Bush of making a false statements about ties between Saddam and Zarqawi, the one-time al Qaeda in Iraq leader killed by U.S. forces.
At an August 21 press conference, Bush told reporters that Saddam had relations with Zarqawi.
"The CIA's October 2005 assessment that Saddam's regime did not have a relationship, harbor or turn a blind eye toward Zarqawi and his associates," Levin said.
"The president's statement, made just two weeks ago, is flat-out false," Levin said.
Bush administration officials pointed to supposed links between Saddam and al Qaeda to help justify their case for war before the March 2003 invasion.
The assessment in the CIA report was similar to the conclusion reached by the bipartisan 9/11 Commission, which found that there had been no "collaborative relationship" between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda.
Top officials also told Americans that Saddam posed a threat to his neighbors and U.S. interests because he possessed large WMD stockpiles. But no such weapons were found.
This is a little old too, hope no one forgets.
