Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default We lost our contract!

Man what a bummer, I just found out we lost our contract after over 10 years! I have been with my company since 82 and on this contrat since 99. The end of January 2007 will be our last day on the contract. I have a feeling that my position will roll over to the new company taking over the contract, so it will be my decision as to whether or not I take it or not.

Kind of a bummer... over 24 years with the same company, but that is part of the government contracting system. 52 years old.... not old enough to retire, but I have really been thinking about it.

Change is good, I have already started thinking about where to do from here, I already have enough years to retire and by the time the new company takes over I will be less then 2 years from the minimum age to retire. More then likely due to the complexity of my job they will offer me a position along with the majority of my co-workers so my 401K will roll over and with the amount of vacation I have more then likely that will be bought out, which should give me well over a months worth of pay to put in my pocket. If I am offered a position with the new company I will take it at least until I am 55, if I don't like working for them I will start drawing my retirement and land a job that simply makes up the difference. It could be a totally different career.
