The 27 were executed in Baghdad on Wednesday, the government"™s media office said in a brief statement. It did not provide any further details.
Maybe Bush should just let the Iraquis deal with the terrorists in Gitmo Bay, save us some tax dollars and no lengthy appeals process

If they are as good at facing down AQ and insurgent forces as they are at executing prisoners that the U.S. probably captured for them, then all U.S. forces should be home in less than six months.

Hopefully things will accelerate from here and things will calm down over there, I know that things will be calmer once there are no allied forces present which seems to be the cause of many of the problems over there now.

I agree Tazman, they do not understand the presence. To them it's an occupation as they have experienced for eons over there. The Idea that a foreign army is actually there to help and will leave when all is good is new to them.

I figure the turning point from a withdrawal or major reduction in troop strength will occur just prior or simultaneousto the mid term elections. Total withdrawal will be close to the '08 elections.

Chances are you are right. If any of these dirt bags had more that double digit I.Q.'s they would set back and stock pile weapons while waiting for us to leave and then take control back for these cowards we have put in place.
But now how close to the elections will it be that Osama bin Laden is caught?
Right now that seems like the only chance Wyas boys will have this fall.

He is probably in one of the "secret interrogation bases" as we speak. They will get all his info and turn him into a blubbering idiot,....open the door andsnuff him when he tries to run. I don't see a dem getting the nod though. IMO the party has degraded to nothing more than a bunch of dart throwing screaming leftof center politicians. What they need is one clear leader who will calmly forge a path they can all follow. Too much dissention within the party at this point to do that. Having Dean at the helm will drag them further into the abyss.

I agree iffy about the eventual civil war. I doubt that will change anything because it won't end. In most parts of the Middle East there has been internal wars going on almost forever. It can be religiously or politically based but it is their way of life. This type of war canned be called anything they want but it is a civil war. One faction fighting another within the country. The government and power goes to the winner but the opposition just starts to fight again and it goes back and forth. Having a despot dictatorship government is just the outcome of the latest war. When the other side eventually wins then it is someone new. Democracy never comes into the picture. It is just one bad side against the other bad side. Try as we may I don"™t see a democratic government in Iraq for very long after we leave. Strange as it is the people don"™t seem to want to live democratically. I think it is too much west for them to be able to handle.
