Ten years after he introduced Islam to the world, Muhammad's wife died. Two months later he married a widow and then a seven-year-old girl. He would eventually be married to 15 women. In fact, he married someone new every year following his first wife's death, many of them as a result of war and plunder. Women left alive after a war with rival tribes would be taken as Muhammad's wives. Other wives were taken for political gain because of their importance or relation to local government officials. Islam taught that men were only allowed four wives. Muhammad made an exception for himself, however, in Surat 33:50.
[blockquote] O Prophet! Lo! We have made lawful unto thee thy wives unto whom thou hast paid their dowries, and those whom thy right hand possesseth of those whom Allah hath given thee as spoils of war, and a believing woman if she give herself unto the Prophet and the Prophet desire to ask her in marriage - a privilege for thee only, not for the rest of believers
[/blockquote]

Regardless of possible bias of the site, is there anything stated in the text that is not accurate? If so, can you cite us to a non-biased, crediblesite where we can get further information?
I keep finding references to the issue of Mohammad having multiple young wives....why do you think this is not a credible site....it's loaded with information...just curious and I value your opinion tazman
Taz, that really doesn't matter does it. Why the need to champion mohammad and islam so hard? Holy cow if you witness this hard for Christianity, youare a busy guy. Not saying you don't. You might be a preacher for all I know and spend most of your days witnessing with love and defending the faith.
Its really no secret on any source that he was a son of a trader. And spent most of his time going back and forth roaming and trading, and no secret he had several wifes, and plundered several places after his false prophesy.
No matter what source, none of this is really disputed. I am not sure about the 7 year old however. Never saw that in my studying of the matter.
BC it is not a need to champion Islam, it is a need to champion truth. Truth about Christianity is not found from an Islamic source any more then truth is found about Islam from a Christian source.
I will defend Chistianity or any other religion when the source of information is from a biased source.
