affirmative action for hurricans?
How crazy, do we not have enough to deal with,with out make an issue of this. Look at all the importance that came from the last gripe by the womens lib movement getting mens names put on hurricans. I sleep so much better. Funny thing, Women felt it was degrading to have only womens names placed on hurricans, and another group feels its discrimination not to. Could youimagine if Katrinahad a black name. Then I guess it would bediscrimination. This is just plan crazy.
I guess this should notsurprise me, Lee is an idiot. We are talking about a women who insists on having a limo pick her up everyday for work, at the tax payers expense. She only lives a block from work.

RE: affirmative action for hurricans?
Oh one more thought. Here is a quote from the article;
Quote:
A member of Congress apparently thinks so, and is demanding the storms be given names that sound "black."
My best friend is black (God rest his soul), and his name was Michael. What exactly is a black sounding name? Something else, Lee says that all hurricans have Lilly White Names. Can anyone email her the name of the hurrican that is brewing as we speak. Good grief,.

As I am one of the constituents who has been gerrymandered into her district, I just sent the following to Queen Sheila, via her congressional webpage:
Quote:
I just read that you are raising concerns about whether blacks are adequately represented in the naming of hurricanes. I took a look at the list, and there are a number of blacks whose names are on the list. i.e. Wanda (Isn't Wanda Sykes black?), Larry (Hello? Lawrence Fishburne ring a bell?). Ophelia? Why are you wasting time on such a petty issue? If black names were overrepresented in the naming of hurricanes, would you then be arguing that blacks were receiving violent stereotyping?
Don't you have any real work that you could be doing, like trying to protect our borders from an invasion by illegal immigrants? (Oh, sorry... I didn't use the politically correct term... perhaps you know them as undocumented migrants...)
Perhaps we should hereafter name all hurricanes "Sheila". They are, after all, just a bunch of wind.
I'm looking forward to a response, as I had to leave my e-mail address... but won't hold my breath.
A couple years back, I wrote her a lengthy note arguing against her stand on gun control. She's got the typical Leftist view. I ended that one "Gun control... Simple solutions for simple minds." Never received feedback from her on that one either...
How sad is it that they don't have something more important to do. There is just no pleasing some people. I am curios as well as to what is a "black sounding name", be careful when you answer because you could be setting yourself up to be called a racist or bigot if you choose the wrong names.
