Default dumbest thing ive ever heard

I heard this on the radio yesterday and couldnt believe it.The radio broacst went into better detail, there were no other circumstances then this which caused the arrest.

Quote:
Storm Lake Policeinvesitgateda call that a man had pointed a pistol out of a pickup truck at a young boy on a bicycle. Officers located the pickup on Cayuga Street and determined that the passenger had pointed a plastic pistol at the child.
Police learned that22 year old Fidencio Cabrerra from Storm Lakeand the boy live in the same house and werejoking with each other.Cabrerrais charged with disorderly conduct and will be appearing in court.
Playing with one of the kids you live with is apparentlyconsidered to be disorderly conduct in this state.Where do they come up with some of the things they charge peole with?Wonder if throwing a baseball to my son could be viewed as assualt?

I'm sure in some places it would be!

They can't get any real exercise playing gameboy...and no one almost never loses an eye running through the bush so they don't get shot...

Wow, that is pretty dumb, I must say. So I suppose reality is out of style these days.

I can see why a citizen would call this incident into the police and why they would investigate. From teh information given, it does not look like it would be a violation of the law and should probably be handled by parents and a lecture. However, we obviously don't have the rest of the story so there may be something that would warrant charges being filed. Since a district attorney has apparently filed charges and this is going to court, there must be more to the story (I hope). Petasux, do you have any more of the story? I couldn't find anything more online.

No. As best I can determine, it is in Iowa of all places. Here's a link so you can scroll down on the left to part of the story. I don't think you would have seen anybody arrested for this in CA. I know CA has some weird stuff but this doesn't sound like a crime was committed from the facts I've heard. I'm sure there's likely more to the story but we haven't heard that part yet.

Cal, on the radio version of it they said the truck was found a couple blocks away and the guy was pulled over without any incident.Unless something went bad at the police station this was pretty much what they were arrested for. After the intial tickets are given we never hear much about these cases in the local media.
