Did anyone see him on TV yesterday giving an update on progress in New Orleans?I watched it for a while and foung something interesting out.Theyre still not reinforcing the levies with concrete and rebar, its not in the budget.Apparently having an independant team of scientists come in and make recomendations on rebuilding the levees was also out of the question due to finances. They are apparently making some improvements but the majority of the building materials are still going to be dirt and rocks like the previous levees were.
Then today I seen an artical where he says that most of the 1 billion dollars given to New Orleans to re build either hasnt been approved or is hung up at the state level.
I guesse Im a little confused, the levees need repaired, theyre working on them now without the reinforcement, and the money hasnt shown up.So in the end the moneys going to be used for othr things and the levees will be made without anything but what they had to start with, and hes trying to encourage people to come back. What a nightmare.

RE: Anyone see ray nagin?
You know what is funny, My uncle was on the crew that was suppose to fix the levies, as well as build the sea wall in the 60s. Money was set aside, and some how vanished. He was told to go back to Turkey Creek because they did not have money to startthe project.
I just think it will be an act of a mental giant to insure these homes and building being built below sea level.

Hmm, almost sounds like the same thing they said yesterday on tv, the levies were behind schedule and being poorly built again because the money hadnt showed up.Wonder how much of that goes into the general fund for the state before being past down to New Orleans
I'm curious. Does the fact that some of these people were/are poor and receiving aid justify failure to address the situation and provide relief from a natural disaster in a timely fashion?
