The way I see it, this is an exercise in public relations.

This aid package is a way to deflect some of that criticism, or at least try to show the world that this conflict isn't about Lebanon, but about Hezbollah. We probably will end up feeding, treating, and housing Hezbollah supporters, but we'll also help some of their opponents. Having those people on our side is critical to removing Hezbollah from the Lebanese government and from Lebanon itself.

We spent what, about 300 Billion in Iraq. Has that deflected any criticism?
We will
never have those people on our side, not ever. The Hezbollah has long ago won the public relations war in Lebanon. Why do you think they are so welcome there???
I will be surprised to see anything done about Hezbollah by the govt of Lebanon. Hez is operating as the social security department, the Red Cross, the FEMA, the military; you name it, they're doing it, doing it well, and doing it in a way that garners support from the people of that nation in a big way.
Last time I remember the US getting in a conflict where we did not have the hearts of the people (whose nation we were "helping') behind us, we lost. Now we're doing that in Iraq. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if we have troops in Lebanon, Syria, or Iran within a year.
How much more good "public relations" can we stand? Let Israel snuff those monkeys. Give them nothing. Let them and the people who support them starve as they try to come up with a way to rebuild their
own roads and bridges, etc, after Israel blew them clear into next Tuesday.
They are devout terrorists. We want them dead, right? So why feed them? What is wrong with this picture? We are going broke rebuilding Iraq alone...and they hate us and want us out...yet we cannot throw money at them fast enough or in large enough quantities.
This is madness, not public relations.
