I had my wife read the thread (DUI = Jail time?) that VC started, and we had an interesting discussion for about 30 minutes. She commented on my thoughts about the safety and health concerns American faces with alcohol and tobacco...
During that discussion, I had an epiphany...
Has anyone ever considered the directives of the Bureua of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms & Explosives? Is it just me, but doesn't it seem very peculiar that the government lumps alcohol & tobacco, two easily accessible and legal drugs, together with firearms and explosives? When you go their website, it becomes even more mystifying...

I realize that this organization originally stems from decades ago, primarily during Prohibition when the government wanted to restrict the transportation of said items; but if the government views the illegal transportation and sale of tobacco and alcohol with firearms & explosives, in this day and age of terrorism, then what does that say about our society?
