Hezbollah Leader Declares 'Historic Victory' Over Israel ....
This guy is a total moron, of course he was in Syria watching it all on tv at the time, but he's a hero by God[:'(]....LMAO
In an address to parliament, Olmert said the cease-fire agreement eliminated the "state within a state" run by Hezbollah and restored Lebanon's sovereignty in the south. And Defense minister Amir Peretz said the war opened a window for negotiations with Lebanon and renewed talks with Palestinians.

This is why Israel should have been allowed to continue with its offensive. Hezbollah isn't going anywhere. Israel claims to have killed 400 of them. Big whoop. Hezbollah did win. The won because the war was stopped before they could be wiped out.
NC, you can't be serious about Hezbollah winning? They did nothing but have the Iranian militants fire rockets for them because they couldn;t use them right...Instructions were in Iranian....LOL
Personally I would like to see the U.S. get off of middle eastern oil, pull out of that region ,then tighten up our borders. Then all those nutjobs can have at it and kill each other like they have been doing for the past few thousand years without our fancy equipment.

Canuck: Of course they didn't win the physical part of the "war." But, IMO, if they managed to survive, they can look at it as a victory. They'll still be around causing problems.

That would be really nice. I hope I am alive to see the day when that happens.
Of course Hezbollah won. So they lost 400 fighters. Big deal. They can easily recruit more, and life doesn't matter to those people. If it did, they wouldn't strap bombs to their sons and send them to detonate themselves in the marketplace. Israel, on the other hand, had significant infrastructure damage caused in northern cities by Hezbollah rockets and fear stricken into the hearts of many. The same can be said, and on a greater scale, for Lebanon, but the Lebanese and Hezbollah are two totally separate factions. Dead civilians and destroyed buildings in Lebanon has little effect on Hezbollah. The bottom line, though, was that Hezbollah does not have to disarm and does not have to release the Israeli soldiers.
Yes, I'd say that Hezbollah was victorious.

Today it was reported that rockets were fired into Lebanon. Only by reading the story would one find the Hezbollah fired the rockets themselves from inside of Lebanon, & the rockets just didn't get past the border into Israel. If one didn't read, one would assume that Israel fired the rockets. The story is found @ http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060815/ap_on_re_mi_ea/lebanon_israel
From the beginning of this current portion of the conflict, "victory" for the islamic terrorists Hezbollah was dumbed down to mean simple survival. On those grounds, it could be argued they won - though they got hammered, & the true number of Hezbollah terrorists that were killed will likely never be known.
The bright spots of this cease fire are that 15K "multinational" troops will stand in-between Hezbollah & Israel, & perhaps some world opinion will change from support of these terrorists if they begin to attack this multinational force. It also gives Israel the ability to concentrate on Hamas.
