Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

It's an optimistic goal, but we'll just have tocontinue training them and see how well they keep themselves together.

It would be nice to get all our people home. We set the stage for them to become Democratic. It is their choice which way to turn right now. We can't be baby sitting much longer.

So true....

H.R. 5875, would declare that the United States has been engaged in an occupation of Iraq for more than three years "” since President Bush"™s May 1, 2003, pronouncement that "śmajor combat operations in Iraq have ended"ť "” that has weakened America militarily and economically, diminished its role in the world and provoked a bloody and ongoing civil war in Iraq.

In stating that it is U.S. policy to end the occupation, the bill would rescind the resolution, pushed through Congress in the run-up to the 2002 midterm elections, that originally authorized Bush to commit American forces to Iraq.

"śIt"™s become very clear that we"™re not in war,"ť Woolsey explained last week. "śWe"™re occupying Iraq and the president never came to us and asked us for permission."ť

Same thoughts here. I'm would like for our people to come home. We have installed a more western-style government, laying the foundation. We can do no more. It is up to them where to go from here.

My hopes and prayers also. It is good to see confidence in taking over their own security by the Iraqi government. It may not happen by years end, but I think an awful lot of the violence will subside in Iraq as the number of allied troops drop. Being occupied by a foriegn force has to be demeaning and I feel that the Iraqi people want to have the pride in saying they can handle thier own security.

aquafin when congress passed the resolution for us to take Iraq unless they were fools they knew we would have to occupy Iraq afterwards.

aquafiin you might want to break out a history book and see how many years we kept military forces in Europe & Asia after WWII and also see how long we have had forces in Korea after the cease fire.

Any one who thinks that you can defeat another country in a war and not occupy it afterward is a fool.

There are very few instances in history where a victor in a war did not occupy the defeated country afterwards, and in the vast majority of these cases, th defeated country that was un-occupied wound up kicking the original victors butt later on.
