Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default GOP candidate slams own party!

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/07/25/AR2006072501052_pf.html

Both parties need more candidates like him, someone willing to critisize thier own parties.

I don't even agree with his comments, but you're right. If we had more people like Michael Steele, Joe Lieberman and Zel Miller, I believe we could get some reform and get a lot more accomplished in Washington.

Yeah not me...

They're all the same.

Washington is too far gone...Lieberman, Zell, and this other guy are too far into the system...

There's no hope for the US government. All of them are the same...Repubs and Demos...

One big difference that is evident is that Republicans who criticize things about their own party are given a platform by the MSM while @ the same time not being shunned by their own party. If one looks @ Lieberman, his crimes are supporting the war on terror & being civil towards Pres. Bush. He is treated as a leper by many in his party & is trashed in the MSM.

Political parties have good & bad points. I'm not ready to give up on the governmental structure we have in the US, because it's the best system on earth. The system depends on those who run it; we need, as voters, to become aware & educated on those who we elect to represent us - & then use that awareness & knowledge to elect the best representatives regardless of party. Vote for each candidate on their record first & their ideas second.

There are a lot of things to criticize about the Democratic party, but please don't hold up thatlunatic Zel Miller as some beacon of truth. That speech he made at the GOP convention in 2004 was nuttier than squirrel poop. He looked like a cartoon crazy man.

I don't think he looked crazy or that his speech was anything but good. What about it are you referencing?

Becaue he looked like this:

I don't have any problem with criticizing your own party when they do things wrong - but attending the other party's convention to air your dirty laundry accomplishes nothing but weakening your own party. If Zell Miller really wanted to accomplish reform and change in the Democratic party rather than just do some political grandstanding he could have delivered that same speech at the Democratic convention.

I agree with his assessment that the Democrats have gotten away from their core values - just like I agree that the GOP is nothing like the party of Abe Lincoln. Some of this is good and some of this is bad - but if I have a problem with my party, I work to improve my party, not improve the party that I supposedly don't agree with at all. And if I have a big enough problem, I switch parties, then start my outrageous ranting.

So it isn't so much about him really being upset with his party as it is about him trying to present himself as more centrist than conservative and, thus, able to garner more centrist Democrats' votes? Sounds like good old fashioned pandering to me.
