Ah yes, sadly my wife began to by into the sweet loving pit bull BS and once again allowed my oldest girls pit to be around our dogs!
Well I am just getting ready for bed last night when I heard the twins screaming and a dog fight going on.
I fly down the steps to see that sweet innocent pit bull locked on to my oldest dogs ear and the twins screaming at the pit and hitting it in the head trying to make it let go!!!
Looking over the situation I saw I could not get to the pits head so I grabbed it by its tail with both hands lifting all 4 of its feet off the ground while it was still locked on to my oldest dogs ear with the twins pounding the snot out of its head. I was scared that if and when the pit let go of my dog it would go after one of the twins so the second the pit let go of my dogs ear I body slammed it by its tail onto the floor and prepared for having to possibly kill the damn thing!!!
Luckily for the dog and my kids the pit was stunned enough to where it hid in a corner while my kids got my old dog into a bedroom and I put the pit back into its crate!!!
Luckily the old dog only had a few fang puntures in its ear and one fang hole in its muzzle all of which I was able to fix up.
If my kids had not been there I would have took the pit out back and put a bullet in its head.
The pit officially now stays in its crate for ever except for potty breaks until my daughter moves out again and takes it with her.
Oh yes they are the sweetest most loving obediant dogs going, until they decide it is time to fight!!!

Canuck, it was bloody enough as it was, the kids were washing blood off of several walls while I was fixing up Bono, the older dog. The good thing was that he did bleed pretty good for a while, it cuts down on the chance of infection.
It is so unfair that my 14 year old twins need to see something like that, they will not see it again, if they do the pit will die!

Take it out somewhere and shoot it before it does real damage . Your daughter doesn't have to like it . What if the dog had latched onto one of the twins instead of the other dog ? Kill it now .

Hate to be this way but I agree, load it up and
take it for it's last ride. It's track record speaks
for itself. If your daughter doesn't want you to
do it, a vet will do it for her. When she's back
on her own this dog will again be a threat.
I bet it shook up the twins, dad and pretty much the whole house, am I correct in saying that?
Don't know if I would have let go of that dog's tailuntil it wasn't moving anymore...dam..sorry to hear about your older dog's ear...gladit wasn't worse, wounds heals, blood washes off, scars are forever.[&o]
Tazman - that will make it so unfrickin mean it will kill someone if you continue to do that.
Please - get rid of the dog either to someone who wants it or kill it. Torturing the dog by confining it isn't the answer. Its in its nature to do what it did - thats the way it is. Having it for a "pet" isn't right and you need to be a man and set your foot down.
If you don't, you'll be looking back wishing you had when one of your girls is in the hospital with a ripped apart face.
If you don't take care of this now ...... and you know as well as I do that all the warning signs are there for that pit to seriously hurt someone, you're being neglegent by not acting man

RE: Body slammed a pit Sunday!
I concur and I feel the dog went over the line. Once they start fighting it is often hard to break them up. The next time it could be against a person and it would be difficult to walk away from that one even if you are a big strong adult. It isn't worth the chance and it isn't fair to the dog to make them live in a crate or on the end of a chain. Responsible pet ownership is much more than giving them food and water. I hope for your sake the dog is removed from the house soon.

I'll second that. Confining dogs will make their behavior even more erratic. They will eventually go crazy if left caged for long enough. This is NOT an option. Either try to rehabilitate the dog, find a new owner, or turn the dog over to a shelter.
Try using this guys method: TheDog Whisperer
I use some ofhis techniques to discipline and train my dogs and it works like a charm.

The problem is they are making the decision when it should be the owner making the decision what the dogs should do. The dog still thinks it is the dominant member of the pack.
