I don't see much interesting about that piece. Buchanan has always been anti-Israel. I'd find a column written by an unbiased source much more interesting.

The reason I disagree with Buchanan on this point is that he's wrong - plain & simple. I'm not sure why Buchanan has such animosity toward Israel; he is, however, not alone in what (IMHO) borders on anti-semitism. But the fact remains he is wrong on this. The US & Israel are fighting a common enemy - Islamic terrorism - which cannot be reasoned with in civilized fashion. They are terrorists who targed innocents in myriad ways in an attempt to force the world backward into their despotic, tyrannical, & brutal way of life. They must be eliminated & the rest of the Islamic world shown that it's ok to live in the modern era - they have something to live for instead of only hope through killing innocents & martyrdom.
Interesting, and I do also disagree with Buchanan. I am not an isolationist; I guess I can be considered an Imperialist insofar as I support any action that furthers American interests internationally. I believe the Muslim world is threatened by Western Culture. Anthropological and Sociological theory suggests that a weaker culture will be swallowed/assimilated into a stronger culture. As a culture we have too much to offer the world and with the strict codes of behavior dictated by Islam, Western 'freedom' is a big enticement. I agree, in purely anthropological terms, that Islam will be consumed and devoured by the West. I do not suggest Islamic culture is bereft of nuance and beauty, but I do suggest that those most oppressed by that culture can find fulfillment in Western culture. We offer secular pleasures which are forbidden by religious law and this is why we are devils, and this is why they need to destroy us. They are fighting for their survival, and that will be a losing battle. The West is like "The Borg"...they will be assimilated. We have isolated communities living in the US which are allowed to segregate themselves from just such integration; witness the Hasidic Jews and Pennsylvania Dutch who choose a traditional lifestyle and follow the strictures of their culture. I have a problem with Leftists and Socialists (American Libs and Euro-commies) who find it fashionable to bash and lampoon the current administration under the guise of decency and social awareness. I do not give credence to European opinions or criticism of any sort. They are spineless and corrupt cowards and would sell their putrid souls to Allah rather than fight like free men.
By the way, I LOVED the comment about the Israelis being a knife at the throat of Islam. It's so true. It's also true that the rest of the oil-rich arab world has done NOT ONE THING to preserve or provide relief to the Palestinian people in 56 years. They only hate Jews and their supporters. They are subhumans and sooner or later, someone will decide on a 'final solution' in this regard.

I can say one thing, you just did a wonderful job of showing exactly why different people(look different, talk different whatever) have killed each other for as long as human history. Distrust of different is an animal characteristic we still carry (and have refined to a rediculous level). Hopefuly whatever species evolves from homo sapein don't have it[8D]. We base this distrust on subjective observations. Cut through all the retoric, all the he said she said he did she did and it starts as distrust. I am not saying we can all get along peachy f@#$%^& keen but there's a whole lot of reduction of violence possible...and oh yea, I just remembered why my favorite children's book is The Butter Battle Book by Dr Suess. More people need to read it.
I want to preface this by saying that prior to 9/11 I was not a hater.
I did not hate Arabs or Muslims. I did not look down on the E.U. as a
socialistic milquetoast continent stewing in it's own putrescence.
That being said:
I don't know where the rest of this thread's membership comes from, but I
worked in Jersey City and had a perfect vantage point from my office window on the day ARABS flew fully fueled and loaded airliners into 2 office buildings killing 3000 Americans. After witnessing that, I needed to make phone calls to people to see if they were still alive. Some were alive, others were incinerated in the conflagration. When I called into Brooklyn NY, the place where I grew up, I was told of witnesses reporting AMERICAN Muslim s**mbags dancing in the streets in celebration of the massacre. I can tell you without the slightest equivocation that I am completely capable of killing each and every Muslim man, woman and child on the face of this planet, until they are extinct as a race. I would have no mercy and I would have no remorse. I HATE them. I want them to die. I want them to die slowly, painfully, tortuously, writhing in agony every remaining instant of their waning lives. Why ? Because I can't separate the good from the bad and it is an IDEA we are fighting; the "good" know the "bad"...yet they take no action, and support and applaud the atrocities the bad commit. THey can die with the bad. It seems to me that people who support the ARAB scum of the world are my enemy as well. I would have no problem slaughtering ARAB supporters as they are every bit an enemy as some bomb-weilding rag headed subhuman stinkpot. The street-dancers in Brooklyn, up by the Meadowlands, and in dozens of American cities should have been shot down in cold blood as the scum they are. Sound radical ? I am a middle-aged white-collar management-type living in a suburban home with air conditioning and a nice pool in the back yard. I am joe 'average American'; you could be next to me on the train going to work on a weekday and never know it. If I can feel like this sitting in my suburban 'slice-o-heaven', I wonder how many other Americans feel the same way ? TRUE Americans, not transplanted, patois-speaking, hyphenated-Americans...would they support a Western Jihad against the followers of the prophet mohammed ? I would. I would support a total, all-out, no -holds-barred wholesale massacre of the arab and muslim world. I would nuke Mecca, Medina and all holy places first, then their cities. The muslim world has declared war on US, not the other way around. It's time we defended ourselves properly, and not treat this growing cancer like a boo-boo...cancer must be cut out and while the host will bleed but it's good for the whole organism in the long run. Arab apologists should attempt to perform the following, to see if they can understand how many Americans feel on the matter:
Take 5 gallons of high-test gasoline
Pour it on your mother
then light the gas and incinerate her.
Watch her writhe
Hear her scream.
That's how many Americans felt on 9/11. That's why we support Israel as a nation, and that's why we have no problem watching Israel rain down death and destruction on Hezbollah in Lebanon.
