$100 a barrel for oil ?

Will the US, if this war escalates, aid our friend in Israel ?

If either or both of the above - total economic collapse for the US ?

All developed nations (and most developing ones) depend on oil. The difference between us and them is that we have the resources and ingenuitity to work aroundsuch problems. Spiking oil prices will hurt, but we won't collapse before everyone else does. It's all relative....

The oil futures price has just spiked $3per bblbecause of the Israeli-Lebanon situation , yet neither country is an oil producer , you do the math .

I agree with Aught 6. Things will get difficult at the pump but I am more worried about an escalation in the conflict which takes sides and polarizes the entire mid east against Israel. I think Israel can hold it's own against all of their neighbors individually but not all of them at once. It bothers me that they are being attacked on 2 fronts at opposite ends of the county by 2 different countries. If that were to spread and some of the other oil rich Arab countries jumped on the bandwagon it would suck us into the conflict. If that happened then we would be totally shut off from mid east oil. Other large super powers wouldn't just stand by and let us wade through those counties because if we won then we would control all the oil. I see some of them siding with the Arabs against us. I hope diplomacy works and real quick.

Fuel storage tanks burn at Lebanon's airport today.

Hezbollah, Israel trade attacks[ Israeli aircraft today struck a runway at Beirut's international airport, shortly after it was repaired and reopened following airstrikes Thursday, the Lebanese and Israeli armies said. With violence escalating between Hezbollah and Israel, Lebanon's prime minister asked the United States to help negotiate a cease-fire.

How about the 200+ US Marines that were blown away in Lebanon? Now they need our help?

Some of you seem to have forgotten you live in the greatest country in the world. Do you believe a bunch of filthy oil hoarding savages are going to bring us to our knees? We developed the nuclear bomb and put a freakin man on the moon. We will overcome this temporary set back. The gas prices in the 70's were higher than they are now if you factor in inflation.
