Lebonon just attacked Israel
Kevin, looks like the meltdown is about to begin. Lebonon, Hesbola(sp), has attacked Israel, killed three and I believe captured two. Fox news just said that Israel is most likely going to start a major air campain. It looks like it is about to get real ugly.

Better get ready for $5-6 per gallon gas folks , once the meltdown begins in earnest the rest of the Arabs will start yelling "JIHAD !" and they'll all pounce on Israel at once to support their Arab "brothers" . Once that happens 1/4 or more of the world's oil supply will suddenly either dry up or the price of all oil will go through the roof to pay for their collective stupidity . Stay tuned .

That will leave us in a real great position since we are just about the only ally Israel has. I don't know what the attraction is but I can guess. Israel has enemies on 2 fronts right now and they are different cultures.

It would seem that Israel won't be backing down anytime soon , they've destroyed the Palestinian Ministry building .
Upon further reflection it now occurs to me that while the situation is dire ,the other Arab countries may not move in after all . The smaller ones like Kuwait ,UAE ,and Dubai aren't equipped for such action. The Saudis and Jordan will muddle around as usual rather than taking any risk themselves , and Iraq has no dog in the fight unless they want to lose their own country by causing us to evacuate. The most likely candidates remain Lebanon and Syria , Iran would love to march down there but won't risk it . As insane as they are , Lebanon and Syriashould remember thatboth have had their asses handed to them by Israel before , and they have a lot to lose. As long as Israel limits their military response to conventional tactics and doesn't do anything blindingly stupid they can prevail in the upcoming conflict . If the other Arab countries intervene they risk serious backlash from the rest of the world since Israel was goaded into this fight , so the wisest political move would be for all parties concerned to sit down and find a face saving way to defuse the situation.
