Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Murtha says U.S. poses top threat to world peace

SOUTH FLORIDA SUN-SENTINEL MIAMI "” American presence in Iraq is more dangerous to world peace than nuclear threats from North Korea or Iran, Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., said to an audience of more than 200 in North Miami Saturday afternoon. Murtha was the guest speaker at a town hall meeting organized by Rep. Kendrick B. Meek, D-Miami, at Florida International University's Biscayne Bay Campus. Meek's mother, former Rep. Carrie Meek, D-Miami, was also on the panel. War veterans, local mayors, university students and faculty were in the Mary Ann Wolfe Theatre to listen to the three panelists discuss the war in Iraq for an hour. A former Marine and a prominent critic of the Bush administration's policies in Iraq, Murtha reiterated his views that the war cannot be won militarily and needs political solutions. He said the more than 100,000 troops in Iraq should be pulled out immediately, and deployed to peripheral countries like Kuwait. "We do not want permanent bases in Iraq," Murtha told the audience. "We want as many Americans out of there as possible." Murtha also has publicly said that the shooting of 24 Iraqis in November at Haditha, a city in the Anbar province of western Iraq that has been plagued by insurgents, was wrongfully covered up. The killings, which sparked an investigation into the deadly encounter and another into whether they were the subject of a cover-up, could undermine U.S. efforts in Iraq more than the prison abuse scandal at Abu Ghraib in 2004, Murtha said. "(The United States) became the target when Abu Ghraib came along," Murtha said. This is incredulous! Does murtha have no decency? This is so off the wall it would be funny if we weren't @ war!!![:@]He joins Saddam & the presidents of Iran & Venezuela in making this sinister claim. People of PA, are you going to keep this blight on the US in office???

If Rep. Murtha and Puncho represent the face of the new Democrat party, I think the GOP is safe in the 2008 elections.

People will defend Rep. Murtha's freedom of speech and I'm sure there are a few liberals who even agree with him. But there was a time when the congressman's comments would have been considered treason and made him liable to be hanged, and I think that tells us all we need to know about what he has to say.

PA voters should not fire Murtha. He is the Dems. war hero. He should be the poster child for the alternative. He has quickly gone to having the most credibility amongst the liberal white flaggers to being the leader of the pack.

He is the face of this current Democratic party, and if the Republicans are smart, they should sponser him as such. Turn up the volume on this ninny. Let stupidity ring.

I know, shameless bump for this thread. I think his comments deserve more attention since he is a war hero leader for the democrat party...

Murtha is a decorated Vietnam Marine veteran, which makes him 100% right on all military questions; untouchable, un-impeachable, totally golden on all that is, was or will be, militarily speaking. So says the Domocrats and the liberal media, so say we all ... right???

Whether you are a Rep or Dem, the fundamental question should be if we need military policy and strategy being dictated to us by a veteran of the only war we ever lost.

The soldiers didn't lose that war- our government lost it for us and got a lot of my friends killed and maimed during the process.
Murtha? he's old and must be getting a little shaky in his tottering years..

Man, just once it would be nice to see a politician just tell the damn truth and let the chips fall where they may. Everyone has an agenda..
Just my little rant..
