Ahhh.... You just have to love diversity (NEA supports homos)

I have a daughter going into 10th grade and a son going into 8th grade. Throughout the years of their public school brainwashing, er em, I mean education, the diversity and tollerance and no-losers philosophy has been driven into their minds at every turn. I of course have done my best to intercept the public shool's attempts at destroying the precious minds of my children. We'll see how well I've done I suppose.

This news is certainly not new, but I have to air out my complaints....

The National Education Association is set to endorse homosexual marriage at their convention coming up in Orlando June 29 through July 6.

The new NEA proposal essentially says schools should support and actively promote homosexual marriage and other forms of marriage (two men and one woman, three women, two women and three men, etc.) in their local schools.

The new proposal, expected to pass overwhelmingly, is found under the B-8 Diversity paragraph:

The Association... believes in the importance of observances, programs and curricula that accurately portray and recognize the roles, contributions, cultures, and history of these diverse groups and individuals.

The Association believes that legal rights and responsibilities with regard to medical decisions, taxes, inheritance, adoption, legal immigration, domestic partnerships, and civil unions and/or marriage belong to all these diverse groups and individuals.

Translated, that means the NEA will promote homosexual marriage in every avenue they have available, including textbooks, to all children at all age levels and without the permission or knowledge of parents. Their plans will include every public school in America.

Yes it does. But it isn't surprising. The NEA has been a left wing political organization for a couple decades now. My wife teaches first grade and refuses to join the union. It's a crock.

What the heck is the NEA even doing promoting an issue like this?

What exactly do the homosexuals have to offer as far as history, culture, contributions, etc.? I guess they think they are some distinct ethnic group or something?

You know, I can sit here day after day scratching my balding noggin wondering why this is happening immediately followed by an overwhelming feeling of disgust, but really.... why is this important? What are the benefits of teaching children that any ol' sinful lifestyle is "OK"? Really - am I missing something?

That's whay I'm still scratching my head for. Maybe the NEA feels that the moral implosion of America is an important part of this nation's history. Or perhaps they find it important to contribute to pushing Godlessness in this land. Not sure.

And the explosion of parental fury toward the NEA begins in 3...2...1...

Once this penetrates the public attention span I predict a firestorm and increased scrutiny of the NEA and it's lefty policies .

I hate to sound paranoid, but I think it's because they want to indoctrinate millions of kids in their left-wing thinking.

Look at the other things they've supported over the years. The organization gave away $65 million in member dues last year to left-wing organizations like the Rev. Jackson's Rainbow PUSH Coalition, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, Amnesty International, The Fund to Protect Social Security, the People for the American Way, human rights campaigns etc.

Why the "F" is it giving money away? Can they not use it to improve schools?

But the union dues go to pay big salaries too. They have 600 employees. Over half of them make over $100,000 a year.

It's a corrupt political organization that is doing so much more damage than good it's ridiculous. But still they scare teachers into joining the organization. I think it is a form of extortion.

I wish it would. Teachers need to know what their dues are going toward. And they need to understand that they are not required to join the union.

NCOutdoors, the problem is that most teachers are well aware of what the NEA stands for but joins anyway. They don't join because they support the NEA's doctrine, necessarily, but they join for the protection that the union offers and for the legal insurance, which is substantially cheaper (I believe membership dues are $800/year) than equal legal protection would cost through an insurance agency. The problem is that even if those teachers don't support their views, their name on the membership roll adds one more number to the NEA, which in turn adds more credence to their ideas and tactics. I try to preach to my family of teachers that if they want their frustrations (low pay, NCLB, etc.) to be accepted with any kind of sympathy by the American people, they need to uniformly stand against the NEA. But the NEA is so firmly engrained in our education system I am afraid that it will never happen. My wife (a fourth grade teacher) and I have had many battles over whether she will join the NEA. I basically said that if she is paying them membership dues, that's part of my money too that is going to them and I won't have it. So far, I have won.

Anyway, this latest "endorsement" by the NEA is stunning, even for their ol' liberal selves. But it could be a good thing. They've long supported teaching "tolerance" of homosexuals in the classroom and few have spoken out against it because no one wants that ol' "HOMOPHOBE" label attached to their sleeve. But gay marriage? Has the NEA not been following nationwide polls and the results of state referendums? Gay marriage is being overwhelmingly voted down every time it comes up on the ballot! Even in Oregon, where the gay-rights advocates spent so much money and adopted the state as its stepchild, they lost. This will cause an outrage among parents, and one can only hope it will put a crack into the NEA's armor that will ultimately prove fatal.
