Mixing Animal, Human Cells Gets Exotic

SAN FRANCISCO -- On the sun-splashed Caribbean island of St. Kitts, Yale University researchers are injecting millions of human brain cells into the heads of monkeys afflicted with Parkinson's disease.

In China, there are 29 goats running around on a farm with human cells coursing through their organs, a result of scientists dropping human blood cells into goat embryos.

I'm cold toward reproductive cloning , but if medical science could one day take a small sample of my own diseased organ(s) and churn out new ones for me I consider that a miracle , not an abomination . If injecting a fellow primate such as a chimp with human genetic material could eventually eliminate cancer or improve our quality of life in our golden years then I'm all for it . Nobody's "trying to be God" , that's just a stupid argument to placate small minds who fear what they don't or can't understand . I have a new granddaughter who has cancer in remission , if killing a thousand monkeys to get the cure would save her I'd sacrifice those monkeys without a second thought .

I totally concur Kevin, as long as they are not cranking out freaks of nature and releasing them into the wild and no one is being hurt, it is for the good of mankind.

I like the idea of a woman/blowfish hybrid. But, why not throw in a little robotics and have a functioning beer tap on one side of her head.
