So let's hear it. Whether they're cautiously optimistic or flaunting-in-your-face over-confident, I think all Democrats feel that their party will recapture Washington this November.
How are the elections shaping up in your state?
I think the key for the Republicans in the Senate race is going to be Tennessee. We're a traditionally conservative state that hasn't elected a Democrat senator since Al Gore. If Harold Ford, Jr. can win Bill Frist's seat, that's a bad, bad sign for the GOP and could be part of a landslide for the Demmies across the nation. On the other hand, the Republicans are the favorites in this race. But their golden boy, Ed Bryant, has faltered. In fact, many would put him third if the primary were held today, behind his two main opponents, Bob Corker and Van Hilleary. It looks like Corker will get the GOP nod. He was relatively unknown prior to the start of campaigning but has spent a boatload of money. Ford is running unopposed so he'll be ready to go full-speed-ahead once the primaries are behind us. But if the GOP has any gas left in the tank, Corker could ultimately hurt the Demmies in that he's a moderate Republican with liberal-leaning views in some areas.
In the Congressional races here, it looks like it'll wind up just as it started. If the Dems gain a seat here, it'll probably be just one.

Ben Virginia has always been a hard one to read because most of the democrats in Va. are more conservative then the majority of Republicans in a of states, we still (Except for No. Va.) maintain that old Dixiecrat democrat.

I think they'll close the gap in the Senate , but won't win a majority . The House could go either way , and I hate to say it , but I think they'll take the House by a small majority . I'll do my part though , I despise both of our Senators(both Ds) and the dummycraps running for the House won't get my vote either .

Everything has to work out perfectly for the Democrats to get control anywhere. I think it would be better for everyone if the Democrats controlled one body of Congress. Then the legislation that would be passed would contain more compromises and be more moderate (theoretically.) I think I would prefer a Democratic Senate than a Democratic House. I don't think having Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House would be good for the Democratic party. Harry Reid might be a better face for the party.
The Senate race in MO isa toss-up between Senator Jim Talent and State Auditor Claire McCaskill.Different polls show different results. Either way Talent is a businessman from St. Louis and McCaskill is a lawyer from theKansas City area. McCaskill does better thanthe average democrat in the ruralvote (relatively moderate/conservative political agenda) but Talent has ties to STL where Democrats normally destroy Republicans. The race will be really interesting.
If Schuler wins, that'd be rich! From the UT fans I know, he's one of the most disliked former QBs that University's every produced...
I'm not so sure that either Hilleary or Bryant may pull out of the race in an attempt to defeat Corker. As things are going, I would say that whomever wins that primary will defeat Harold Ford. The democrats will try to have a great get out the vote effort; however the republicans are better positioned to get their people to the polls.
As far as democrats taking over congress, I highly doubt it. There aren't that many seats truly up for grabs in this election. Add to that the democrats are not giving the voters anything for which to vote! Trying as they might to repeat the same mistakes in Iraq as in Vietnam - cutting & running - is not something to garner any new support. As long as the House republicans stay strong on illegal immigration, I see the democrats making little if any gain & possibly losing more ground. They're just not giving any reason to vote FOR them...
