Iran would 'use nuclear defense' if threatened

Iran's defense minister on Thursday vowed that his country would "use nuclear defense as a potential" if "threatened by any power."

But,on a side note..If they allready got them why shouldn't we believe they want to build electric plants instead of wanting to build weapons??
I am not defending Iran with this comment I am about to say..But,I believe in the american way...Everyone is innocent untill proven guilty...Not to many people can keep an open mind with all the propaganda going on though...

Daniel let us put on our thinking cap for a second okay?

Iran says "We are not going to make nuclear weapons out of our uranium enrichment program, it is strictly for electricity".

Now Daniel if they were telling the truth when they said that then how in the world could they make the following staement?

How can they defend them selfs with nuclear weapons if they did not make any?

Could it be they are not telling the truth?

You tell me Daniel, does it make any sense how you can defend your self with nuclear weapons if you never made any?

I think "use nuclear defense as a potential" may mean that they will develop it as a weapon if forced to defend themselves...otherwise, for energy, all the power to them if it is safe and doesn't leave the world open to disaster..

Canuck weapons grade uranium is not made over night nor is a nuke.

If Iran was attacked by someone and they decided "Gee we better enrich some uranium and develop and deploy a nuke before they crush us", it would take to long for the whole process to take place, they would be defeated before they could even finish the enrichment process. As I pointed out to Daniel, they are lying through the skin of thier teeth, there is no way they can make a statement that they will defend them selfs with nukes if they are not at a minimum working on them now.

Unless they've been lying the whole time(what are the odds?) and have bought black market Russian or grey market Chinese nukes . They have the cash to buy what they want , and they could have them in service long before they could actually enrich U235 and build their own . That's the bigger concern in my view . You could buy a big nuke for what would be pocket change to them , ship it to the US in a tanker full of oil , and demolish the majority of our refineries near NO quite easily , along with a major strategic port . What's to stop them from buying 50 such nukes and taking out the majority of our ports ? If I can think that up in the time it took me to peruse this thread you can bet that they already have .

dont yall think its funny how we arnt allowed to build nuclear power plants in the US and are forced to use fossil fuels, yet we trust Iranians to build safe nuke plants when they have an abondance of oil? How bout we build some for ourselves and become less engery dependent on them.

As far as the "innocent till proven guilty" I dont think that applies in international affairs. I dont feel like waiting for a nuke to hit us so we can say "hey! you lied!, your guilty!!!!!!" An ounce of prevention goes a long way...

I don't know about trusting them , but that is an interesting point , and it's not like they care about the environment .

Well we would know where the nuke(s) came from and in retaliationthe new Sea of Iran would be created where once stood the Islamic Republic of Iran. They are smart enough to know what would happen to them with any of thisfoolishness. The government howeveris using this strong rhetoric to bolster their position among the people who by this time are probably good and tired of all these ayatollahs bringing them back to the stone age.I would not discount the Russians or Chinese selling them warheads though the Russians because they need the money and the Chinese because they want the US to have a constant thorn in their side.
