Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Can anyone tell me why we allow this farce to continue ?

All for one and more for me

It seems that our Congress has just voted themselves yet another pay raise while the rest of us struggle to make ends meet . Why ? Isn't it about time to strip away the golden parachute and make these clowns live on what we currently pay them ? Having them subject to the joke of a Social Security system would be a refreshing change too . [:@]

Let's have some term limits?!?!?!?!?!?[:@]not only because of this, but generally I think they would be beneficial for a more efficient and representative goob. Couldn't hurt.

It's nothing more than all the unions try to do every time negotiations come up. Or individual employees try to do whenever they feel they need a raise. They just have the power to do it without having to argue with their employers.

Teachers always want more money. Some deserve it, and some I see don't even deserve the job. Firefighters, Cops, Nurses, etc.... We all try to get more pay, benefits, whatever, when we can. Seems perfectly natural to me.

I wouldn't expect them to keep working at 1975 wages, would you? What's the right amount?

By the way, I also agree with term limits.

you're right but that's what makes it different.

We should make a law that says: the wages after passing the "vote"will go up with each seat individually as soon as the congressman that voted for them is replaced by someone else. That is: their individual successors will receive the raise

There should be some limits. What is their current payscale?

I did a quick google search and came up with a very informative website.

I don't either , but they shouldn't be allowed to vote themselves a raise anytime they feel like it , it should be left to the public who pays the lying rat bastards . I'm reasonably certain that none of them really need the money anyway , but if they can't live on what we pay them then they need to get a real job .

No , and it's also illegal for them to refuse the raise , guess who's idea that was ... [:@] At least one Senator in recent memory tried to refuse his raise , he ended up donating it to charity . He was the only politician I've ever considered to be honest since when he died in office he had a bank balance of only $15,000 .
