The conflicting claims of the Marines account of what happened in these Iraqis deaths is coming apart at the seams if this news story and video are legit.

It is heart breaking to me that if these guys did in fact murder these people, that the thousands of other service people who would never do anything like this have their images tarnished.

Doesn't matter if they are volunteers or not. They are in a combat zone and can't always show the same restraint as campus cops trying to control a bunch of drunk students on Saturdy night. That's the real truth that folks can't handle.

The "can't hack it" argument just doesn't fly. By that logic, people should never become doctors because some of them make mistakes under pressure or do things that people who know nothing about doctoring will not like.

My first thought is that we do not have all the facts and may never have them. They have the benefit of the doubt in my mind as they are doing a tough job that we all benefit from. Thank you to all of our military personnel!

Kevin the video was shot by the BBC, a news agency of our allies there.

Lanse if there are guilty parties and they are Marines they need to be prosecuted and the circumstances no matter what they are that led to this are not an excuse. The circumstances that led to it may be the cause of what (may) have happened, but they are not an excuse.

Trust me when I say this as both a vet and the father of a Marine who fought in Operation Iraqi Freedom and also spent 6 months in Afghanistan, I hope that this all proves to not be what it appears more and more to be.

If this proves to be true I wish one of the Marine witnesses to it had spoken up right away instead of caving into pressure from either guilty parties or commanders of guilty parties.
