These people are ILLEGAL immigrants. If they went about immigration the normal way, fine, that's cool... Come on in. But they are jumping across the border by the tens of thousands and thendemanding their rights. Rights?!? What rights!!!! [:@] Kick 'me all out, is what I say!!! [:@]
But they are jumping across the border by the tens of thousands and thendemanding their rights.
Well I guess there is a precedent for it. After all, when Texas belonged to Mexico americans jumped accross "the border by the tens of thousands and then[began] demanding their rights" now didn't they? Looks to me like their justtrying to improve their lot in life and doing it the "american" way.
Sylvan you might be stretching the truth a bit on that one, many of the Americans that went to Texas when it was part of Texas were land owners and business owners, they also were Mexican citizens for the most part and were part of the local government. Yes they did start to demand equal rights with other Mexican citizens and when they were not granted those they revoted and established thier own country. In other words they were not there illegally.

Under the Senate bill, illegal immigrants who have been in the country at least five years can continue working and eventually become legal permanent residents and citizens after paying at least $3,250 in fines, fees and back taxes and learning English. Illegal immigrants in the U.S. between two and five years would be required to go to a point of entry at the border and file an application to return. Those in the country less than two years would have to leave.
Canuck it is better then nothing, but I do not see it working any better then the laws we have now, there is no real effort to enforce them and has not been for over 20 years.
