It seems to me that Murtha - democrat, PA, is almost gleeful in convicting the marines accused in the civilian deaths before a trial is even started. He's become the point man on the democrat side attacking the war in Iraq & his tact is to blame the soldiers themselves. I know we have some Pennsylvania folks on this forum, what do you think of this guy???
I think this is the link and story you're referring to (see partial text below). I believe Murtha has a responsibilty as a congressman to demand that an investigation be properly done to ascertain if something was done wrong or not.
I don't see a problem with him fulfilling this duty as a congressman and American. I do think that it is irresponsible, however, to state his opinion about confidential information he received in "high-level reports." That information is only initial reports and not an investigation. He should refrain from commenting on the material until it has been properly investigated and resolved through lawful channels. Just because Murtha is a congressman should not give him the right to "convict" fellow Marines in the press. I am mindful of and appreciate his service to our country as a former (not "ex") Marine but also believe he should continue to uphold the oaths he has taken.
Murtha said high-level reports he received indicated that no one fired upon the Marines and there was no military action against the U.S. forces after the initial explosion. Yet the deaths were not seriously investigated until March because an early probe was stifled within days of the incident, he said.
"Who covered it up, why did they cover it up, why did they wait so long?" Murtha said on "This Week" on ABC. "We don't know how far it goes. It goes right up the chain of command."

On Memorial Day weekend someone posts that John Murtha should be shot as a traitor. John Murtha did not go against his country. He responded to murders done in our name in Iraq. We have good young men put into impossible situations in a foreign country that we should not be in. A roadside bomb went off and killed a young Marine, the rest of the Marines went on a revenge rampage and killed several people in surrounding houses and five people, including four college students in a taxi cab. We didhowever pay $2,500 per family to some of the victims. How do we justify this. Stress is stress...but murder is still murder.

Not someone it was me!! And once again he should be shot for treason.
His job has nothing to do with the statements he made ,his statements resulting in harm to U.S. service men.If a few have done wrong then deal with them .You do not under mine the whole force because of the actions of a few.
No one ever heard of the fat basturd until now great timing.
Not one American life is worth the risk involved in these terroriest.
Kill them all!!!!!!!!!
I think every war has its atrocities that have been committed by the good guys (I still consider the U.S. as the good guys.) If guilty, they should be punished.
Murtha hasn't committed treason, IMO, but he should not have disclosed confidential info, nor should he presume guilt. He is just motivated by politics, and is in love with the attention he can get from the press.
