Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default F.B.I. Raid Divides G.O.P. Lawmakers and White House

Although I can understand why congress is upset about this search warrant raid, I also think there is a certain elitist thought process occurring here. The key words here are warrant-bearing agents. A warrant is signed and approved by a judge. Any other American citizen is subject to the same process after review and approval by a judge. While I understand the concept of separation of powers of the 3 branches of government, I don't think any branch should be above the law that the rest of us must submit to simply because of their position. What does everybody else think?

May 24, 2006 F.B.I. Raid Divides G.O.P. Lawmakers and White House By CARL HULSE WASHINGTON, May 23 "” After years of quietly acceding to the Bush administration's assertions of executive power, the Republican-led Congress hit a limit this weekend.
Resentment boiled among senior Republicans for a second day on Tuesday after a team of warrant-bearing agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation turned up at a closed House office building on Saturday evening, demanded entry to the office of a lawmaker and spent the night going through his files.
The episode prompted cries of constitutional foul from Republicans "” even though the lawmaker in question, Representative William J. Jefferson of Louisiana, is a Democrat whose involvement in a bribery case has made him an obvious partisan political target......

I'm honestly not seeing what their point is other than thinking that the laws don't apply to them , maybe that's the real problem that needs to be addressed .

I hope more warrant-bearing agents stop by Capitol Hill. Separation of powers has nothing to do with exemption from the law. It's about damned time the country did something to clean up government.

I wonder what those complaining Republicans have to hide....

Boys I can't believe what I just read on this post. I am a former Trooper who workded for a long timewith the Federal Grand Jury. There are times that even with a warrant you can't search or arrest legislatures. Most state legislatures have this rule also. This is the first time in history this has happened. There are separation of powers...whether we like it or not.

We have to preserve all of our liberties...I will not sacrifice mine for tempory safety...this is a ruse anyway...it is easy to get a Federal warrant to tap phones and monitor calls...the NSA is doing a lot of illegal PIN registers...and fishing for info on political enemies. Any decent terr is using a throwaway phone now anyway.

This is a hunting forum of hunters I suppose...I wish we would guard our other Constitutional rights as jealously as we guard the 2nd Ammendment. Which I whole heartedly support also.

Finely some bipartisan coperation between parties to get some of the countrys problems solved? Oh wait that cant be - its to cover there own A$$,s&assets.

Of course they make the rules- that dont apply to them .

Of course there just gifts& campain contrbutions- not bribes& payoffs[&:].

Seperation of powersAnd Whos watching the watchers?

How dare the Fbi- but things will get back to normal soon- underling heads will roll.

With all due respect , they shouldn't be above the law just because of their phony baloney jobs , and all indications are that the actions by the FBI were conducted legally . Who the hell cares whether the warrant was served and executed by the FBI other than these dirtbags ? Would they have acted differently if it had been the county sheriff ? It's a federal case being investigated by the proper federal legal authority , what's the problem ? I treasure my rights as much as anyone , but I see no conflict of interest here , just hypocrisy . Never happened before ? Well , there's always a first time for everything . A dirty bird will get his wings clipped as he deserves , and I want them to find out(legally) what else the slimeball has been up to . If the rest of them are nervous then the saying "The guiltiest dog barks loudest" probably applies .

PS: "workded" ?
