Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Interesting. Well, I guess we'll take whatever decent press time we can get.

With the NRA convention in Milwaukee this weekend, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel which usually takes a rabid antigun stance, has done some neutral if not favorable coverage of the NRA over the last few days.

Don't get to excited about the liberal press all of the sudden appearing "understanding" of the NRA. Remember they (the pinkofag liberal media) is just trying to garner votes for their side, apparently they are now gonna result too outright lying, deceit and betrayal.

NOTHING good can come of them courting the NRA, but I know LaPierre is smart enough to understand that and is just using the PR time for good cause. He knows to keep them at arms length!

americans historically have been a nation of moderates. extremism and the usual excess that accompanies it has often caused a backlash.

from that standpoint, the illegalgun confiscation following katrina, in concert with the pictures of helpless authorities and widespread looting being broadcast into everyone's living room, did more to reinforce the need for the 2nd amendment than i think any of us imagine.

when i now debate the merits of gun restrictions with folks (yeah, they're usually Ds [&o]) i point to katrina. it invariably stops most arguments dead in their tracks. most people seem to understand that you simply can't, and maybe shouldn't,expect government to protect you all the time.

from an anectdotal standpoint, i know have twoindividuals who purchased firearms simply because of the katrina debacle.

I find that people tend to believe more in the 2nd amendment and firearms ownership in direct proportion to their distance from major population centers and police response times.
