I learned that as a kid from none other than Bill Cosby , one of my childhood heroes . He grew upamidst humble surroundingsand despite racism and govt. indifference made it to college on an athletic scholarship and went on to become very famous and successful , and he did it during times that were far more difficult for blacks in this country than they are now . They could pick a worse role model , and usually do .

I read that - but gawd, do we REALLY expect or can we hope

" If only the poor were willing to work harder, act better, get better educated, stay out of jail and parent more effectively, their problems would go away."

Personal Responsibility - do not blame others for your own choices in life. Those people have more opportunity than I EVER had ...... and most of them wasted it all and chose to be poor, lazy, dumb and in and out of jail and their problems don't go away.
