Default Gas prices and walmart

We had a discussion tonight about gas prices being so high from actually competeing with china....We came up with wal mart being part of the higher consumption for china increase in oil use...wal mart buys most of their goods from china..Chinabeen building factories for the demand of goods that wal mart is buying...This is increasing their oil consumption so wal mart can keep bringing you low prices at their stores while jacking up the price per barrel along with increasing chinas economy....Is it possible that this could actually be going on for the part of the larger consumption of oil china has been recieveing??? I know war is part of the high prices but could wal mart actually be part of the problem to??? Just thought I would see what others think about this beer buzz thought we had....

If walmart is to blame, then the consumer has just as much blame. If you don't buy it walmart won't sell it. Look at how they don't sell guns in some stores.....they just weren't profitable in some areas. Don't buy the crap from China if you think that is the problem.

I agree buck knife...I don't buy china crap especially if it's a product that required the use of any oil to manufacture or package. It's either Canadian or US Made for me.

The entire American economyhas, in part, led to China's growth in oil demand. We've been buying assorted plastic garbage since long before Wal-Mart hit the national retail market.

Also keep in mind that we're not the only country China sells goods to. They're making everything from cars to computers nowadays (very crappy ones, but still) in addition to the usual junk. Oil prices are global in nature.

to say that walmart is the reason for high gas prices is a little out of line.

i see what your thinking is and it kinda makes sense, but walmart doesnt tell their vendors that their production must be done in china. They tell their vendors if they want to sell a product walmart will price it and if you dont like the price we will sell it for than your product wont be sold in a walmart store.

That concept in a sense forces people to manufacture products in china due to cost. So it really is the american consumer that is at fault, its just easier to say that a major corp. is raising the gas prices. i dont want to blame myself for wanting to pay lower prices so im gonna blame the guy that has more money than me. I dont think that is right by any means its just a normal way of thinking.

Just where does the idea come from that India and China are somehow not allowed a share of the worlds supply of oil, an international sources commodity?

That is what they want you to believe.
The prices are high because it is an unregulated business, just check and see what profits the oil companys are reporting , it is in the billions monthly.

They are just crooks with a license and the white house won't do anything ,neither will congress, they are making billions in the stock market as well.
Get angry and vote off the entire congress and they will never allow this again, it is called democratic revolution, you have the power.

While Isupport the voter-led expulsion of Congress, I wouldn't recommend electing a bunch of anti-capitalists just because gas is expensive. Gas prices aren't high because of oil companies. They simplysupply a global commodity thatconsumersdemand.

None us would get paid if our companies didn't make profits. How do you think the economy would fare then? Ahh, we could just work for Uncle Sam, like in the good ol' days of the Great Depression. Then we'll just have to conquer the Pacific Rim andhalf of Europe to get back on our feet.

Have you checked oil companies' profit margins compared to other commercial sectors? They're not ripping us off here. No one entity controls oil prices.
