Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default George Clooney thinks we need to step in here ...

Why is this any of our business ?
http://my.earthlink.net/article/top?guid=20060430/44543640_3ca6_1552620060430-581301154

Especially in light of this .

Aside from the national sovereignty and internal politics issues ,American citizens have recently been fired uponin this country and they have absolutely nothing we need or want . What business is it of ours if Sudan implodes ? They've been like this for thousands of years .

Your thoughts ?

We have enough "home grown" problems to worry about if you ask me. Lets save our own, then work on other places.

I think we ought to do what we can as the most wealthy nation on earth to keep tens of thousands of people from dying. The least we should do is head up an effort of "willing nations" to help. Burnie, you are right that we have plenty of problems here. But the don't add up to beans comparitively.

We went nuts after the tsunami hit over there. Why is it we do nothing now? Where is Jesse Jackson leading his AFRICAN American brothers to help? We talk about how this is a Christian country. But letting these people, who are caught in the middle, just whither away to dust doesn't seem too Christian.

I'm not trying to be "preachy." It just seems messed up. Am I wrong?

I think we should start making it a practice to leave these countries alone. Had we done the same with some of the Middle Eastern countries years ago, we wouldn't find ourselves having to make a return trip now.

I truly believe that our country would be much better off if we were to adopt something like Star Trek's Prime Directive and just mind our own damned business from now on . Those folks haven't changed since the dawn of time and never will .

Easy for you to say when your not the one staring down the gun barrel. Isn't our country great where we can just turn a blind eye and still feel good about ourselves.
