Another thought on illegal aliens.
I know we have some here who are setting back, not saying anything because they disagreeing with the view that illegals need to go. Just a thought; Do you know where most of the untaxed dollars paied to illegals go? It goes back to Mexico. We have lots of illegals here in Texas, and they are paid under the table and live in poverty here, while sending money home to pad their nest eggs in Mexico. Why retire in America when Mexico is much cheaper. I get this information first hand. Another thought, by allowing illegals to work for nothing, it keeps the minimum wage down. As long as these people work for slave wages, how do we expect to get the corrupt buisnesses to pay higher wages.
Just a thought from the mind of Burnie.

What is lacking with some folks is the balanced perspective that the illegals need to go, and the business owners that hire them need to go to jail. Trying to do just one without the other is just spinning your wheels.
Hell, if I knew that icould sneak into Canada andget hired at6 or 7times mycurrent wage and get free health care, they would have to build a 50 foot fence with an armed guard every 10 feet to keep me out. And then I'd still try to figure out a way to get in.

RE: Another thought on illegal aliens.
I would too. You are right, both have to be addressed. I dont blame these people other than the fact they are breaking the law. And I guess I should use the word law loosely here.

roger that Burnie, Lanse...illegals is such a broad term.
So the Mexicans are the largest group, doing thismassive free for all lunging across the borders where ever they can....this has gone on for how many years?
Maybe thefocus should be to 1) stem the flow of those attempting to cross today, tomorrow, the weekend, and now? i wonder how many this week?
Harsher punishment might slow them down some. Would a drastic measure such as temporary closing the southern borders work to allow border patrols to focus on catching the jumpers?
Worrying about those illegals already here seemsto be a separate and just as important, anissue.
Those who are already here can be categorized, rounded up and out processed and or in processedaccordingly...and with 1) secured, they can't come back unless trying the legal way.
I lived among Mexicans and other latin aliens when I lived in Kookifornia , and they were hands down the best neighbors that I've probably ever had . One poor couple living in the room adjacent to mine even fed me for three weeks during a period when I was laid off , they never asked if I wanted help and never took anything in repayment besides my heart felt "Mucha gracias" . Do I want them as neighbors again ? If they enter through the proper channels , learn the predominant language of our land , and pay their taxes like everyone else then I'd be tickled pink to welcome them . But as long as they continue to try to circumvent the system I cannot responsibly consider them anything but criminals and invaders . I've met many people who have successfully navigated the waters of becoming a naturalized citizen , and I have the deepest respect for every one of them . It's a shame that the ones who cry out for rights here now can't seem to comprehend that legally they have none until they swim those same waters themselves . Swimming seems to come naturally to them , it's surprising that they find the process such an obstacle .

Here is something for you to ponder.......when mexicans come over here to work on a work visa in the tobacco farms of KY. The farmer has to guarantee them 32 hours a week and a hourly rate of 8.50 an hour. We pay people on work visa more than we pay americans minimum wage. And they don't even pay taxes on the money they make.
i wonder though. kev, if they were nice because they were illegal or just really good people...indeed there are some mexicans who will ruin it for some other mexicans...what gets me, is if an illegal has been here years and years, has a family with illegalettes, why the heck are they not all legal by now?
