Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

I agree with your analysis. How do you propose the U.S. remedy this problem? I've heard other people say we're not in a position of strength to take china on in this matter since they've purchased so many of our T-Bills.

Who was it that said " Give then enough rope& they will hang themselfs?"
(And we will sell them the rope?)
Nikta?
(maybe it was just a deam?)
Maybe we could sell "them" those federal lands some ppl dont wantfor sale in a exchange?[&:]

Many countrys have had& have import restrictions, protected markets, tarriffs& imbargos right? ***an , europe etc etc.
(I would meet ever one of them with restrictions of my own to match theres)

But ya America plays by the rules of the geneva& ones of there own making it seems -i think to.(not that i understand most of any of this anyways)

Kato(sp?) & international land mine treaty ban.
2 of the better moves i have seen from "us" -not signing those 2.

Didnt the US sell large quantities of corn, wheat, rice yrly(taxpaper/goverment subsdized goods?) to both the ruski& chinese commmie nests during the cold war yrs- while they consentrated on things like vietnam/cuba etc -building there armys,& missle forces etc- instead of feeding there masses or even worse food shortages?

But we are going to get the iranians& n koreans to lay down if we deprive them of french toothbrushes& prayer rugs& tocos?.

But thats right we where talking about china?-new capitalist/commie hybred.
(we feed /send them even more then before- now right?)

China most favored nation status trading partner?(but chinese small arms& ammo banned to the Us- by the Us?) Meanwhile .......china/russia arms pretty much everyone else in the world.( that should work[&:])

Would those t- bills still be valid or defalt if we invade then Cal ?Bet they can hire a lot of lawyers& dc lobbiests etc too.

There only gifts & contrabutions -not bribes -they mean nothing.Vp sees no red dragon(day dreams of how he invented the internet& will save the planet& make everyone ride bikes& busses someday.)

I can almost hear the Canadians boiling already , this is gonna get good ! [8D]

I'm a shipping manager , so I work with NAFTA regs a lot , and if you think it's a free trade agreement you'd better ask the neighbors to the north and south what they think of it . You won't like what they'll tell you . The Mexicans(yes , they're north Americans too) don't care for our view of it either , and we shaft them far less often than Canada . China is a poor example since their market has never been freely open to our companies as Mexico now isand Canada nearly always hasbeen , yet our stupid goob bends us over and lets them do what they want . It's just as one sided as the way we treat our own neighbors , but at least we have Wally Worlds full of cheap crap to choose from . The only benefit I see to us trading this way with China is that we'll actually infiltrate their culture with our junk philosophy and rampant consumerism to the point that they'll reject communism and come over to the dahk side ...
Muahahahahahaha !

speaking of lumber:

A framework to negotiate an end to the longstanding softwood lumber trade dispute has been reached - a deal that could see $4 billion in duties returned to Canadian producers and set a number of conditions on access to the U.S. market.
The agreement, which still faces several hurdles in Canada and the United States, would see Canada allowed access to about 34 per cent of the U.S. softwood lumber market.
The U.S. government has also agreed to return 78 per cent of the $5 billion it has collected in countervailing duties and dumping fees on Canadian lumber since May 2002. But more than $500 million in Canadian duties would go to U.S. companies and another $500 million would go toward such projects as rebuilding New Orleans.

the prolonged dispute over U.S. tariffs on Canadian softwood lumber have raised costs for U.S. consumers and forced Home Depot in the U.S. to cut back on its purchases from Canada. It's even begun importing a small portion of its lumber from Finland and Sweden, to ensure a secure supply for its customers, she said.

Returning 4 billon out of 5 billion , restricted access toa market , yup free trade at it's finest . Why is it that when one your trading partnersappears to bebenefiting from a sector you impose restrictions and taxes . Or have I lost the meaning of FREE TRADE .
