Default South Park Censorship

I don't know how many of you are South Park fans, but I think it is one of the funniest, and smartest shows on tv. What do you think of the episode that played last night, striking out against their own network Comedy Central for not allowing them to show the prophet Muhammad on their show, which is blasphemous to the Muslim religion? As Kyle says, "Either everthing is okay, or none of it is okay."

First Tom Cruise can get an episode pulled for Scientology, now this.

Tom Cruise's insane powers are no match for the internet.

I often find it annoying that the cable networks , channels that must be paid for to watch , bother to censor themselves at all . Their content is scrambled unless you pay to watch it , and in paying you tacitly agree to their content whatever it may be . It irks me enough that they have the gall to charge for viewing yet still bombard us with commercials , commercial free programming was the biggest lure to get people to subscribe in the early days , but they also try to be just like the broadcast networks by censoring their own content . What happened to them being different from the broadcast networks ? What happened to choice in viewing ? How come I can't see boobs in those commercials that irritate me so much ? I despise the spinelessness of US television , the euro*****s have had full nudity in their shows and commercials since the early 70s , you can't even say "Deleted by Calhunter" on Comedy Central unless it's after midnight , what kind of crap is that ? [:@] I don't think there would be two networks that wouldn't welcome South Park on their own terms if the left CC , maybe they should .

I don't watch t.v., but it's funny to see someone get so upset over not being able to see some boobs or hear people cuss.

Is that thereason you watch t.v.?

The only cable channel I like to watch is the Hitler Channel. But if a rerun is on, boobies will suffice for a substitute.

No , it isn't , but it annoys me that cable was supposed to be a change from what the broadcast networks offered , that's what made them competitive with "free" tv in the first place . They don't have to censor themselves , there's no acceptable reason for it other than candyassed pandering to the whiners who are stupid enough to watch a channel that's scrambled to protect the content and then bitch because their 4 year old saw a titty or heard the word "Deleted by Calhunter" . Whether delivered by cable or satellite there are parental controls on every descrambling device , so there is no need for self censorship on their part , that's the consumer's responsibility .

When cable first appeared they had to be commercial free to justify the horrendously high price of $10 per month they charged as an incentive to subscribe , now they even have pop-up ads during the programs , which really pisses me off . [:@] Why shouldn't the Juggys on the Man Show be full frontal ? You couldn't see that unless you paid to and agreed to the content . But no , a few whiny blue noses write a few letters complaining about shows they have never even watched just because they don't want anyone else to watch it either and the Juggys can't show more than 3/4 of a butt cheek . If you don't like what's on a channel use the clicker and find something you do like . Ooh , no , mustn't show an image of someone else's prophet , they might get pissed and tear up their own country ! Spare me ... The same dipsheits who do that would clap and cheer if they saw that so called "art exhibit" that featured the virgin Mary in a jar of piss , who gives a sheit if seeing Mohammed on tv cheeses them off ? Not me pal , screw 'em .

Bottom line , it isn't about boobs or commercials , it's about the First Ammendment right of free speech and the destructive effects of that bullsheit PC pandering that jerks my chain . That crap is fine for broadcast tv , but once you pay to see something or do a show that others have to pay to watch then it should go on unaltered as the creators of the show intended it to be , not hacked to a mere PC shell of itself stripped of it's entertainment value to the point that you might as well turn the box off .

Television is such a waste of time nowadays. I'm not paying fives times as much for crappy mass-market cable programming as I do for basic Internet access, particularly when I can learn infinitely more online than on TV.

Anyway, I guess my point is that mass media is full of @#$%, andtheir politically correct BS is really no suprise.

kevin- I see exactly what you are saying. If someone wants to pay to see something- they should be able to view it as it was intended to be. I totally agree.

On a different note, how do you feel about "free" viewing channels? Should they be able to cuss/show nudity?
