Students at a Longmont , Co. school staged a walk out because they were not allowed to wave the American flag , the school's policy is that no flags of any nationality are to be displayed on school grounds . I've always thought that schools were legally required to display our national symbol , apparently not .
Your thoughts ?

I can kinda see where they are coming from. It looks like they were just trying to avoid a major conflict by stopping it before it ever really got started.

The (policy) evolved because the flags were being used, not as a symbol of cultural heritage, but the flags were being used as symbols of bigotry, a symbol of hostility. They were being used to inflame different groups and we're simply not going to tolerate that at Skyline High School," Stumpf said.
Sounds like he was trying to avoid a riot.

RE: Can't wave the flag ?
Some areas of the county has a majority of students from places other than the good old USA. They probably tried to ease out of a situation. I personally think all public institutions should display the flag and be proud of it.
