Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

That's right--we don't need the gov't interfering with our lives!

Ifthe little guy has something and the big guy wants it, the big guy should be able to justtake it, without any repercussions from nanny gov't. It's none of their business what I do!

If a couple decides to do kiddie porn, what business is it of nanny gov't as long as they use their own kids?If they decide to adopt a whole passel of kids so they can do a series, the gov't needs to just keep their nose out of it. They are the legal guardians, right?

Shoot, 'ol Mike S. could have rented Terri's body out while she was still alive--I'm sure some sicko could have found a use for her--and nanny gov't should just look the other way.

Makes sense to me..............at least as much sense as a sheep skipping rope.

Even knowing how many civil service workers it would displace I would favor having all goob reduced by no less than 50% and returning to Constitutional law . We have far too much goob and waaaaayy too many laws that aren't even being enforcd . Cut the fat .

Even though this is an extreme case, all the folks that say they don't want the government involved in their lives are usually the first to be standing in line with their hands out, demanding what they think they're due, when all goes to hell in a hand basket.[][][][][:@]

I totally agree - if it were me I'd absolutely LOVE to be allowed to starve to death while my parents begged to take care of me. Or, I'd be tickled to allow my wife, the woman I've sworn to stand by and love, to starve to death while her parents beg to be allowed to take custody of her.

It does my heart good to know that there are loving husbands in the world like Schiavo's that would care so deeply as to allow that to happen, to FIGHT for years to allow it. And he not only loved Terri so much as to allow her to die, but had affairs with other women and had a couple of bastard children with one all the while Terri was starving to death.

THAT friends is true love, isn't it ?

I agree with that 100%, but that wasn't the topic. The jist of the topicwas that we don't need the gov't interfereing with our personal lives, even in matters of life and death.

I'm all for trimming the fat--when you have 5 guys watching one guy work, fire the 5. I don't think for one minute more laws will make a difference when the ones on the books aren't enforced--that's my big beef with the "immigration reform".

Back to the topic though--would it have been fine and dandy for Mike to rent his wife's body out to a flesh peddler? After all, according to some accounts she wasn't really alive anyway, just an empty husk. Since he was the legal guardian, why should the gov't interfere if he wanted to make a few bucks on the side?

He can choose whether or not she lives or dies, but for anything else the gov't should decide? Now isn't that as hypocritical as deciding on whether or not a baby lives or dies depending on the way it was conceived? How about the question with the kids? Should the gov't interfere with the choices the legal guardian makes?

I know it's still early, but I think that one will be the post of the day, if not of the year! *standing ovation*
