A newly released prewar Iraqi document indicates that an official representative of Saddam Hussein's government met with Osama bin Laden in Sudan on February 19, 1995, after receiving approval from Saddam Hussein. Bin Laden asked that Iraq broadcast the lectures of Suleiman al Ouda, a radical Saudi preacher, and suggested "carrying out joint operations against foreign forces" in Saudi Arabia. According to the document, Saddam's presidency was informed of the details of the meeting on March 4, 1995, and Saddam agreed to dedicate a program for them on the radio. The document states that further "development of the relationship and cooperation between the two parties to be left according to what's open [in the future] based on dialogue and agreement on other ways of cooperation." The Sudanese were informed about the agreement to dedicate the program on the radio.
The report then states that "Saudi opposition figure" bin Laden had to leave Sudan in July 1996 after it was accused of harboring terrorists. It says information indicated he was in Afghanistan. "The relationship with him is still through the Sudanese. We're currently working on activating this relationship through a new channel in light of his current location," it states.
Hmmmm so there was no link between Sadaam and terrorist or supporting terrorism????

I saw this yesterday also, Taz! Isn't a great testmony to the character and integrity of George W. that he never would let this news go publicduring the election?!?!?!? Heknew the whole time thathe was right, and yet he has accepted the ridicule and the disrespect from the left, all the while knowing he was right! I figure he didn't let it out earlier because the military wasinvestigating and actually carrying out missions that could have been compromised if this info had gotten out! We have a great President, and time will prove it! He continues to be in my prayers!
Notice thereare NO liberals posting on this thread, wonder why?!?!?!
Goose- I agree with you man. George had all the info he neede, but he didn't have to tell us, because Operations would be compromised. That's strength. I continue to pray for him also.
The funny thing is, after all the Liberal Crazies said "Saddam had nothing to do with Bin Laden" and "There were no ties to Al Queda", none of them can dispute this. I'm sure they'll come up with excuses, can't wait to see the finger pointing and side stepping on this one! Great post Taz.

They'll say "OK he had ties, but Saddam was not directly involved with 9/11, therefore he shouldn't have been targeted for invasion." IE we should be reactonary and only go after terrorists AFTER they kill thousands of American lives. What is important about that information is that they planned to collude on attacks "joint operations."
I'm a little surprised to see this from ABC after they blew the Saddam Tapes story a couple weeks ago. According to them, Saddam had given up on WMD production in the early- to mid-90's. I don't know who they hired to translate the tapes, but the person(s) really missed some critical details. And, go figure, the ABC story conveniently skipped the recordings about rebuilding the power station in Basra for nuclear materials production, as well as the discussion regarding on-going plasma research applicable for nuclear weapon detonation systems. I find thatomission highly suspect, particularly when you consider that Saddam and his nuclear scientists referred to the year 2000 in the past tense in the conversation on tape.
I wonder how much press time this latest story will receive. Has anyone heard it outside of ABC?
I haven't seen it all except here. Any moral news outlet would run the story with an apology. This is proof positive that the facts are of no consequence to them. They are driven solely by the far left political agenda.

The Russian government collected intelligence from sources inside the American military command as the U.S. mounted the invasion of Iraq, and the Russians fed information to Saddam Hussein on troop movements and plans, according to Iraqi documents cited in a Pentagon report released Friday.
I think it's time to clean house in the Pentagon....

I've said it before and I'll say it again . . . now . . . the Democrats have sure painted themselves into a corner on this Iraq war thing. Heaven help them if new information is discovered -- and these recently translated documents may constitute some of such new information -- that justifies the war. They will be culpable, rightly so, for giving aid and comfort to the enemies of the US for their own petty political purposes. It would sure make them sitting ducks during the 2008 election campaigns, wouldn't it? Think of all the good video that is available of the various big Democrats bad mouthing George Bush, Bush's policy in Iraq and the Middle East in general.
Now I allow that the jury is still out on this. I'm just saying . . . if definite facts emerge, and this is certainly possible, that support the Bush decision to go to war, the Democrats's a$$es are hanging out there . . .
Aught Six, this article has more details. Also there are reports that more documents confirm things but they are not on official letter heads or sealed. Some millions of documents being sorted through...they talked they planned they ate tabouli together and raped a few women to celebrate...no question about their involvement.
There could be a mix of misinformation as well as good information found in all those documents.
Bin Laden's next to get caught anyway...we'll convert him to Christianity, install a microchip tracking device with a tamperproof detonator inside his heartthat is set to explode C4 imbedded in his butt cheeks, then let him go be free in Afghanistan...LMAO...then start a new web site called The Osama Hunt, where ordinary folks can track him and set traps for him to trip over on his journeys...NO ? Bad Idea? Anyone?
