There is no way to justfy this shooting ,but just when are these people going to learn that you can only push someone so far before they blow up.Maybe the rest of the neighbors will listen when he says " KEEP OFF THE GRASS "

Fortunately, he probably won't be able to tell people to stay off his grass anymore. He'll be locked up, which is exactly where you should be if you cannot control your temper any better than that.

Very sad story..... the old man needs to be locked up for life, I have had problems in the past with kids cutting through my back yard, I sure didn't shoot them, just put up some barbwire.[8D]

I never shot one but I did drag one thru a passenger window and beat him half to death.And I bet he thinks twice about flipping off an old man (47)again.

Was the kid trespassing ? Not that it would warrant shooting him and killing him but the article says there is a 5 year history of conflict between him and the family.

Sounds like that family and kid pushed and pushed and pushed and pushed too far one day. In retrospect,I wonder now if they wished they'd have listened to the old man and not tried to anger him ?

Ifferd - no doubt the man should be put to death for his actions. In my perfect world, he would have been executed this morning if his laywer hadn't shown clear reason for his actions which I cannot imagine he could have.

But, that doesn't take away some of the responsibility that the kid and his parents hold for allowing the perstering of this old man for 5 years (assuming that part of the story is true)

On the other side thou if people refuse to teach their kids to respect others & there property more of this will happen.

ATV's are a big reason for posted land and when signs and gates fail other measures go into play!I have a neighbor that moved here from kookafornia he ownes 1.2 acers as in" less than two".He went and bought his kids two four wheelers.He reasoning is no one owns the woods!!!!!!!!!!

Guess what I own the woods!! I think Taz's barb wire idea might be next.
