Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Bush Administration's Plan to SELL 300,000 acres of National Forest

The Bush administration is pushing a plan to sell off 300,000 acres of National Forest Land. Land where as hunters and fishermen we now enjoy will fall into private hands and lose forever. I am urging all to contact your senators expressing your opposition to the bill.

Can you be a little more specific?

What national forest?
What state?
What was the "given" reason?
What is the bill name?

Yeah I'd like to hear more details to be more versed on the topic as well. At least that might provide some insight into what is going on. Ahhhhh politics. As sportsmen we should continue to fight for our rights to use public land....but i def. need some more details about what exactly is going on.

Lands for sale are nation wide including 21,000 acres here in Colorado. The plan is opposed by more than 15 hunting and fishing group in my state, including T.U. and the Colorado State Muzzleloading asociation.

Maybe this is it??

http://www.realcities.com/mld/krwashington/13833486.htm

I have not a clue if this is a legit news source or not but do a search and others come up. Slacking timber sales which fund rural schools (thats news to me, I had no idea the two were connected) have slumped so they are selling land to make up for the losses. Various parcells invarious places.Thats a tough one, natural resources vs education....both extremely important and both deserve attention.

I however feel that maybe whatever that timbersale is going to bring in money for the schools could have instead been aquired by just keeping some money at home instead of being sent to Iraq and forestland would not need to be sold.

Its been on the news here for a couple of weeks....Taking our land to fund rural schools for illegal immigrants.....Real smart....

I voted for Bush...lesser of 2 evils...I have been real dissapointed...we are hurting for leadership in this country....

I couldn't agree more. I don't hate the guy but man he really isn't helping us out leading the country. I've heard of this now that I've had the time to think about it. MNpurple is right though. Natural Resources and Education, both important.....what do we do?

What do we do? We hold back just a sliver of the money being pumped into Iraq and we save the schoolsAND keep the acres. Seems simple enough, but politics do not make it that way.

One of the properties on the block is land along the "Mt. Evans Hwy" here in Colorado. The land is about a one hour drive from Metro Denver and it is very scenic. I can't imagine what a large development or having it divided up into lots that only the wealthy could afford would do to that area. Lots of access to trails, fishing, and elk hunting would be lost.
