RE: The rhythm of gas
I've noticed it too , it used to be that the pump price only fluctuated a cent or two , now I've seen jumps of thirty cents and sometimes more . What I find hard to understand is how this can happen . Wholesale suppliers buy their oil or gas months in advance at a set price and make occasional adjustments to reflect local conditions such as trucking costs , demnad , etc. , so the pump price shouldn't fluctuate by more than a cent or two on a day to day basis . What I find really exasperating is when a local station buys their gas allotment at one price then slams it up because the futures market for the next cycle has increased the barrel price . They won't be affected by the price increase until they actually purchase the gas affected by it , yet we get screwed . [:@]
