Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default This is what we have to live with in Australia (the lucky country?)

No US path on gun control: Howard
From: AAP
March 01, 2006
PRIME Minister John Howard tightened gun laws after the Port Arthur massacre
because he did not want Australia going down the same path as the US, he
said today.

Mr Howard, on the eve of his 10th anniversary in office, said today the
nation's grief over the 1996 Port Arthur massacre had been a great
opportunity to tighten Australia's gun laws.
"I would call that very definitely an extraordinary outpouring of amazement
and grief in this country and I knew out of that there was an opportunity to
grab the moment and think about a fundamental change to gun laws in this
country," he told the Nine Network.

Mr Howard said he did not want Australia to adopt the American stance on
guns.

"I did not want Australia to go down the American path," he said.

"There are some things about America I admire and there are some things I
don't.

"And one of the things I don't admire about America is their ... slavish
love of guns. They're evil."

And this is an example of the crapwe have to face every other week or so.

Thanks. Quotes like that just have a natural tendency to bring a smile to my face.

dam, I'm sorry to hear that 260rem. I don't understand what he means by the path of america. Because of the crime rate or something? One thing about it as long as the citizenry is armed there is only so much the government can do to you I'll never give mine up.

I'm with North Texan, that quote gave me a good chuckle. I personally think the American path on guns is a good one. The more guns I have the better. I'm thinking John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, and their nut-job anti-gun gang would fit in much better in Australia. I sure would like it if they moved out of the U.S..

Australia is one of the few countries I would consider actually living in were it necessary to relocate. It's pretty pathetic that people have to put up with the increasing amounts of feel-good, accomplish-nothing gun control legislation. I feel bad for the honest citizens who just want to defend themselves and their families, in addition to farmers and rural populations who need guns to defend themselves during their work.

Your Prime Minister should research the dark history of gun control in this country. There is a good article on it in the April 06 Guns and Ammo magazine about the creation of gun control laws to keep guns out of the hands of slaves and freed slaves That is where gun control in this country started from, based on the logic that "people kept in bondage must not have access to arms, lest they turn the arms on their masters." Afterslaverywas abolished in 1865, this continued by"Black Codes" that required blacks to obtain a liscense to purchase a firearm. Tosay the least few were approved. That is something your PM and I can agree on concerning his statement "There are some things about America I admire and there are some things I don't." I recommend reading the entire article.

Thats whats great about this country. In all reality we have the biggest army in the world. If anyone ever dared to send ground troops ontoU.S. soil they would have to fight the military and the american population.

Guard your freedoms with great vigilance and fight those rotten politician or anyone else who'd try to take them away. Don't there aren't plenty of lawyer, judge and politicians in this country who aren't trying to do the same.

Sorry that a noble, independent people like our friends in Australia have some pols who use a tragedy to whip up people into a state where firearms can be taken away from law-bidding citizens.

Take a look at Great Britain, too. Since they did similar thing there (taking firearms away from citizens) violent attacks on law-bidding citizens have skyrocketed including "hot" home invasions of thugs looking to steal or attack folks in their homes. Well, what would they expect! The bad guys know that almost no one in Britain can privately own firearms to protect themselves.... Remember that the next time you hear the ususal suspects like your PM and our "senators" kennedy, "dumb as a box of rocks" boxer, feinstein, chucky "cheese" schumer, kerryand the rest try another recycle scheme to take away our rights and freedoms.

Keep up the fight against such as these. Don't give up. Don't ever, ever give up![:@]

As long as it is the right to bear arms. When other things like warrantless wiretaps and the unlawful search and seizure stuff...it doesn't count, right?.

Absolutely it counts Alaska. Its an extreme rarity to find a admin that you agree with everything. I just pick the one I agree with more. But others just pull the handle at the polls they always have for no reason.
