Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default 30 billion to fix New Orleans.

I saw on the news that 27 to 30 billion dollars have been alocated to fix the mess Katrina made. Thats a lot of money. What is the population of New Orleans. Last time I was visiting relatives I believe it was 350 to 400 thousand. Is the money not getting there, or is it just now getting allocated and we will start seeing progress?

Just a thought running through Burnies head.

A better question would be "Why aren't the folks that live and operate businesses there ponying up the majority of the cost ?"

You can't operate a business without insurance , and contrary to popular belief quite a few people down there had insurance on their homes . I think the taxpayer is once again getting the shaft . If taxpayer money is used for the rebuild then they should be mandated to move the city to higher ground and install much more sturdy levees .

I have always felt that way. Never made since to build a city in a bowl.

Not only are we rebuilding New Orleans with federal tax dollars, but we're doing it with the understanding that the majority of displaced black residents have no intention of returning. I guess they've found some bigger spoons in other cities by now....

ANOTHER TEN POINTS!!!!!!!! In my city, they're mad b/c they stopped getting free housing/food/etc. "You mean we actually have to get a job? I'M A VICTIM!!!"

What's really sad is there are people who have been working during and after Katrina to put their lives back together. Then you have these bums who are looking for a handout, as usual. I have a friend who is an assistant mgr of walmart, he said you wouldn't believe the "victims" who come in and use their "free money" to buy bigscreen tvs, stereo systems, toys, anything you can think of. They're not using this money to rebuild their lives, their using it to put new stereos in their cars.

... really really hacks me off.[:@][:@][:@][:@]

All of this is true, but for me, personally....

I would rather 30 Billion on American citizens that 300 billion on a bunch of Arabs who hate us and just can't wait to kill each other...

but hey, that's just me.
