The border/port situation is indeed pretty pathetic. The increasing attention of the past few years has at least woken up Washington to the issue, but as normal, no one in the federal government seems to have raised a finger.

The DPW port deal again rattled Washington's eyes open on the matter, but we have yet to see whether or not the extended review will actually increase security in our ports.

We're fairly wide open on all fronts....

I think they are weak at best. Mostly lip service from the feds but the mex. border states seem to be taking some steps in the right direction. I say good luck to them. They have to deal with the full brunt of the illegal influx. I don't really have any experience with that first hand.

I do, and let me tell you it sucks. These people come over here looking for a free ride, and they're getting it. Over65% of the Mexicans here don't have the proper paperwork (meaning they're ILLEGAL) and no one is doing anything about it- except letting more in!!!! What the h***??? Every murder or robbery I see on the news is an illegal "alien". I'm sorry but I'm sick of it. These pieces of trash come over here expecting me to pay for them to live, feed their ten kids, buy their food, provide a job, a vehicle, pay for their school, and whatever else they want. Why should we?
Think about it. The wealthy and well-educated in Mexico don't want to leave Mexico. It's the poorest, least-educated people that come here looking for handouts. There are several jobs nowdays that they won't even interview you if you don't speak spanish. WHAT??? This is America!!!. Not mexico! If they want to speak spanish- STAY IN MEXICO. If you think you need to live here- learn the d*** language!I wouldn't dare move to ***an ILLEGALLY. And I wouldn't movethere without learning the language. I can't expect them to speak English just to appease me. It's a joke.

On a happier note- I am fine with people learning English and coming over here LEGALLY to work/go to school/vacation- as long as I'm not paying for it. I've worked with several immigrants, and I like them just as much as my other coworkers. I'm not saying shut down the borders completely. If they put in the effort to learn the language and to do it legally, let them in. If not, shut 'em down.
