Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default The official "When will Iraq implode" pool .

Place your bets , ladies and gentlemen !
On what date will their civil war officially start ? This means first shot fired in anger now , not just silly rioting in the streets . On what date will the Shiites first fire in anger on the Sunnis with actual artillery pieces ?

12 months after U.S. forces leave. What's going on now could get ugly for the next few days, but will likely settle down.

Unfortunately soon. It will happen as soon as we leave for sure but odds are that we will get sucked into it because we are still there. It will get real nasty then and I only hope we can get out before it starts.

I don't think we'll ever really leave. We're still in Germany and ***an some 60+ years after the end of hostilities, and they're peaceful allies.

The fact of the matter is that the U.S. is more or less forced to deploy worldwide to keep the nutjobs in checks. As long as we're there, I sincerely doubt there will be a full-scale civil war. Some militia skirmishing in the streets isn't quite the real deal. These forces can't gain control unless we're completely out of the picture.

I dont think we will leave for one simple reason. Iran is stiring the pot. If we leave, Iran will infiltrate which will cause us to go back.

A lot of lefties seem to be quietly salivating over the possibility of a civil war in Iraq. It will allow them to put "Bush Lied; Millions Died" bumper stickers on their Prius'es and drive around the neighborhood to show them off. Pelosi, Sheehan, Dean, Moore and Co will probably be dancing in the streets shouting about Bush's failed policies.

I think the reality is that a civil war (full blown, as contrasted to the low intensity conflict we've seen in recent years) would be catastrophic for just about everyone involved. There would be refugee crises in Iraq's neighbors, huge numbers of Iraqis would die, Iran would probably grab an oil-rich slice of southern Iraq but might itself be destabilized, US credibility in the region would be nil. Basically everybody but the most radical elements would be losers.

Well civil unrest has proven one thing. The country is freeer than what it was. Before, if there was any uprise, Sadam would simpy kill them.
