Okay Fundies, still think Bush is strong on terror?
Bush is about the $$$, and not for you and me either (unless you make over a quarter of a million per year). Defend this righties...your leader is a moron. When FOX news is concerned, you know it is bad.
RE: Okay Fundies, still think Bush is strong on terror?
I'm not sure what the big fuss is about. The ports will be managed by a company that happens to be based out of a middle eastern country. One could easily say that the United States harbors terrorists as well so that no company that's based in the US could be trusted either.
I'd be more concerned with the Chinese operating the Panama Canal.

RE: Okay Fundies, still think Bush is strong on terror?
Can you please explain what money Bush will make off of this deal?
This is a legitimate business deal being made by international companies. That's how things work in the real world. Bush had nothing to do with it; it was approved by CFIUS, represented by various interests within the federal government.
It's important to point out that although terrorists and their moneypassed throughUAE, the same is true for Las Vegas. Should be shut down the Strip in the name of Homeland Security?
Oversight is the key here. Terrorists can infiltrate just about any organization in America because of our very own freedom. I believe an in-depth review by CFIUS is call for in this instance; clearly the stakes are high. However, it's pretty ignorant toso forcefully criticizethis free market business deal without knowing all of the facts.

So what you are saying Aught Six is that National Security (ya know, Bush's whole platform for the 2004 elections) only matter until money becomes involved...then all bets are off?
Thank YOU, Thank YOU, Thank YOU, I have been saying for years that the neocon movement is just about money, and the Iraq War is just about oil (essentially money)...so, letting the United Arab Emirates run our ports in the largest cities is a good thing because it is a legitmate business deal, evne if it compromises National Security!!!
RE: Okay Fundies, still think Bush is strong on terror?
Well I am against the UAE buying ANYTHING in this country. Not for the same arguement most are making but because I am sick and tired of foreign governments badmouthing and not supporting the U.S. but boy they sure do want to do business over here. SCREW EM!!!
I just don't think we have ANY economic interest or gain by allowing foreign governments to own/operate ANYTHING in the U.S. This port mgmt company in UAE is NOT a privately held institution it is owned by the UAE government itself. If the Chinese or Russian Government came over here and wanted to run our ports America would be shooting politicians in the streets. Why is this any different? Is there not a U.S. based company that can't do this instead? I realize a British company is who owns the company who is being bought out by these ragheads. So our ports haven't been controlled by a domestic company for decades now? I think we are just asking for an azzrape sooner or later.
Screw the entire globe, build a wall of isolationism around the U.S. and see what happens. The rest of the world CAN'T operate without our economic powerhouse that is why they are standing in line with checks to buy our country out as it is. Thank God the ***s went bankrupt in the late 80s or we all would be speaking ***anese and eating sushi right now. How much longer is it going to take us to realize that at the current rate we are going our kids will need to be bowing too Allah or speaking Chinese???
SCREW EM ALL, we pay the band I say we should call the tune!!!

No, I'm saying answer the question. How will Bush make money off of this deal?
RE: Okay Fundies, still think Bush is strong on terror?
I think some people are missing the whole point: the ports are already owned by a foreign company, P&O or Great Brittain and have been owned and managed by a foreign company for a very long time. A company from UAE is buying P&O which would include all of the ports run by the company. This has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with the President or his administration, and there really isn't anything the President can do about it.

First of all, let's be really really clear here, the Dubai Ports is NOT a private company it is a part of the UAE government....big difference.
How would Bush make money? Uh-- UAE - OIL -BUSH - Marinated in the stuff?????
