Iraqi Province Cuts Off U.S. Forces

The governing council of Karbala province said Monday it was suspending contact with U.S. forces over the behavior of soldiers during a visit to the governor's office two days ago.

The decision followed similar moves by leaders of Maysan and Basra provinces, which have frozen ties with British forces in southern Iraq.

Karbala provincial spokesman Abdel Amir Hanoun complained that U.S. soldiers brought dogs inside the building when their commander visited provincial Gov. Aqeel al-Khazraji, considered an insult by the council.

They also blocked roads leading to the governor's office, preventing council members and the governor from parking cars outside the building, Hanoun said. The governor instructed the council to suspend contacts until U.S. forces apologize, he said.

You could see the glass as half-full. It has been repeatedly asserted that 3/4's of the provinces in Iraq are relatively stable and free of violence. Most of the news reports originate from the three most troublesome areas.

But, to go back to the half-empty scenario. A news report today indicated that the technology for jamming cell phones (used to detonate IEDs) was has been pretty late in being fully implemented in Iraq. I guess you could use this as a reason to bash Bush. But, I am more inclined to view it as a general tendency by politicians to rush to war, then let the needed equipment slowly trickle down to the troops.

I'm so SICK of worrying about other countries feelings and listening too their bytching and bellyaching about us being there. If they had any balls and brains in the first place they wouldn't have been under a tyranical dictator in the first place. We give them freedom and now they want to act like this???

I say back our boys outand andsend in the B-52s full of MOABs and give them a quick "attitude adjustment" and then go back in and TELL THEM how it's gonna go down!!!
