Default Motorcyclist Rights

Well, everybody whines about something on here, I figured i would have a whine or two. Anybody on here ride? I have rode something or another my whole life. And its my one passion that overrides even hunting and shooting. Maryland is the last state around that makes me ride with a helmet. As long as I have enough insurance, shouldn't I be able to ride without. Shouldn't it be my choice? I usually ride with a real helmet. But don't like being told I have too. Seatbelts too. I have gotten 4 seatbelt tickets in the last several years. Shouldn't it be my choice as long as I don't cost anyone else?

You want to spread your head on a freeway like egg salad who am
Ito stop ya.

I think it will effect insurance rates even if you do have insurance.

Maybe not because your more likely to be DOA.

This is a pic of 2 of my favorite toys:

One is a 2001 Harley Davidson Screamin Eagle Road Glide
The other is a 1969 vintage "Tennesse" version.

LET THOSE WHO RIDE DECIDE!!!

ps
Charge me more, I don't care. Smokers pay more for life/health insurance. I wouldn't mind having that option as well with regards too skid lids and their use. I HATE EM!!! (In fact the ones in the pics aren't even legal, but the cops around here don't care. As long as you have SOMETHING up there that is all they care about.)

What a poser man. Thats cool. Wouldn't mind having a screamin eagle. Got a 99 king and wouldn't mind having the extra ponies on the eagles. Man, you got three no-no's I don't allow on my hog when picking up the old lady. I don't allow sandals or shorts and they much wear a full face. Believe me brotherwhenyou ever wipe out and mess up a gals face, she won't forgive you. Ever. Sono matter if I am butt naked, they are going to wear all the gear.

I think they should have the same noise restrictions as cars. They go by here and shake every window in the house and yet the cops will write you up for loud pipes on a car that you can hardly hear. I have rode them most of my life. However they were quiet.

lol BC you dont want the goobment tellin ya you gotta have a helmet but you make your housemouse wear a full facer??? I have a full face but it's for my bassboat during rain or cold weather. I used it on the bike lastyear when I rode too my dads (Hot Springs, AR) for the AR State Hog Rally. The forecast was storms the entire 250 mile trip (which were mostly right!). The helmet was great for keeping the rain off my face (feels like gravel at highway speeds) but I HATED the decreased visibility and hearing with the thing. That was in AR which has no helmet law for adults. I couldn't wait until I could get rid of that brainbucket. [:'(]

My wife rarely rides in the first place (we have 3 small kids) and that pic was taken while in a 15-20mph parade of a couple hundred bikes when my bud opened his brand new location for his HD dealership across town from the former location. Yeah, if we are leaving town she has denim and boots on. As for the helmets, her opinion is just like mine... if I'm in a severe wreck I would rather go on too the great beyond than have a 8# helmet stretch out my spinal column and leave me a veggie for my kids to spoon feed for the rest of my life. I have NO beef with those who do wear helmets, like most say we just think the decision should be up too those of us who ride.

As for the seatbelt arguement, I don't wear one as often as I should but I don't dare equate a seatbelt with a helmet. The seatbelt is there to keep you from flying through the window and becoming a wheel chock or jackstand under your vehicle. They also keep you safely positioned for maximum safetyshould the airbag deploys. With a bike it's different. If you have a wreck you are pretty much screwed anyway.I realize wemake that choice whenwe get on!!!

lol Aught, my wife and I are part of the "Extreme Balance" X-Games traveling roadshow...

Naw, like I said we were in a parade and probably only traveling about 15mph or so down the by-pass here in Jackson, TN. The picture was taken by a professional/commerical photographer who was traveling alongside in the back of a pickup truck taking pics of whoever wanted them. Were I going faster you probably wouldn't be able to makeout the wheels/brake rotors as they would probably just be a blur.

LOL that aint the first time that's been asked about that pic!
RA

ps
Since we were in a parade we all had our flashers on, notice they were even caught on during the pic (he only took one of each bike). I couldn't have planned that if my life depended on it (not with one pic only).
