Sandi Dubowski, who won the Teddy gay and lesbian award in 2001 for his controversial doc "Trembling Before G-d," may cause an even bigger stir with "In the Name of Allah," which explores the struggles of homosexual Muslims.
Gay Indian Muslim helmer Parvez Sharma is directing the pic, which looks at gay, lesbian, and transgender Muslims across the Muslim and Western worlds.
"The world right now needs to understand Islam, and these are the most unlikely storytellers of Islam," Dubowski said, who is producing 'Allah.'
Doc will undoubtedly prove an even thornier film to export than "Trembling."
Sharma and Dubowski plan to submit the pic to all major festivals in the Muslim world as well as in the West, but if it's rejected, Dubowski said, "We'll find ways of screening it in every Muslim nation, even if it's underground."
Dubowski already faced problems with the international release of "Trembling Before G-d." Pic faced protests and bans in South Africa, Mexico and Baltimore.
But Dubowski has managed to open doors in the Hasidic and Orthodox communities in Israel, U.S. and U.K. and has toured the world over the past five years doing 800 live events with diverse religious and secular groups.

What is happening to the Muslims right now is the equivelant of someone riding around the Bible belt with a mural of Christ in sexually explicit poses!

some things seem like a good idea at the time but when you look back you say what the heck was i thinking. this guy will surelydo just that. he is not dealing with rational people here he is dealing with muslims. muslims who chop off a hand if you steal or a foot if you flee from authorities. they rape mame murder and torture for gigles and grins. what will happen when the movie puts faces out there as known homosexuals. they will die.it will not help them gain acceptance. muslims dont think that way. they have no remorce or concience about such matters. if you transgress the words of mohamed who was the desciple of allah you die.or are at least mamed.

There has been a few movies released putting Christ in similar situations. I think the difference is, Christians don't act a fool. We take solace in the notion that we know the truth and will let the cards fall when the time comes. We out cry to have movies like that banned in our neck of the woods, but dont go killing people over it.[/align]

if they cut off body parts for punishment for crimes and the like. what do they cut off for being homosexual.
