Hunter Shot by Cheney Has Heart Attack AP - 12 minutes ago
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The 78-year-old lawyer who was shot by Vice President Dick Cheney in a hunting accident has some birdshot lodged in his heart and he had a "minor heart attack," a hospital official said Tuesday. Peter Banko, the hospital administrator at Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Memorial, said Harry Whittington had the heart attack early Tuesday while being evaluated.
Can we please quit calling this peppered now, when a guy is close enough that you shoot through his clothes, his skin and all the way into his heart muscle, that is alot more severe than a peppering.

Reports are that the pellet migrated to the heart via the circulatory system. But your point is vaild - #9 at 100 yds is "peppered"; #7 1/2 at 30 yds is not
Peppered is when a guy in a blind 100 yards away from you shoots into the sky, the pellets reach their apogee, then fall back to earth under the force of gravity. It stings, but is sure does not draw blood.
This guy was freaking SHOT which is why he was in ICU for two days, and is back there now from shot traveling into his heart.
I don't know about you, but any "accident" that puts you in ICU for two days is not minor to me.
However I read yesterday that now skin was broken, and all that was wrong was welts...they kept him for observation. He's a lawer....he can sue for anything!!!!!!!
It makes little difference what you call it. Shot , Peppered, Sprayed. It was a hunting accident like every one of us who hunts chances every time we go hunting. The only thing that makes this case reportable of notworthy is that its pollitics and a famous person involved. People were killed in our state late year in hunting accidents and the press didn't have fits or even report it. Call it whatever you like but it was a hunting accident. They happen all the time and very seldom is anyone charged.
ORIGINAL: ....They happen all the time and very seldom is anyone charged.
I hope this isn't true. I know in Missouri it isn't true. The MDC reports hunting accidents for Turkey and Deer seasons every year, and in each and every case I've read the hunter has been charged and lost hunting privaleges.
I caught a diagram of Whittington's wounds sourced from a NY newspaper on the TV news this morning. The pellets were concentrated in the victim'supper left shoulder and neck. From the pattern at ~30 yards, it appeared the burst was aimed afew feet to the right and slightly over the victim's head.
That's shot, not peppered, in just about anybody's book.
i guess my local news got the distance wrong they reported that the old gentlman was 60 or more yrds away. so it was actualy much closer. i guide some upland bird hunts each year at a private ranch here and i call the shot if a bird is low i yell low bird and no one shoots. i dont want my dogs at the least getting shot or a person at the most.we only shoot at birds well in front of us usualy this is no problem becaus with dogs they point then flush so you have time to set the shot up safely.
